Cheapest V-8 swap you can do Will still run you $20,000.00 do you really think it’s worth it to put it in a car that old?
i’ve got a 2005 sedan six speed manual, I would love to put an LS motor in that, there is an outfit here in Texas that specializes in doing just that. They told me 25,000 for a full install and that was four years ago, but I just can’t justify the price.

There's a guy on YouTube that documented every single step of stuffing a LS motor into a 2004 Miata. He did ALL the work himself and in the last video (published several months after he finished it), he documented all the costs involved. It came to $43,600. Now mind you, he used a crate LS motor and that was 12-15K if I remember correctly, but even without labor costs. After selling all the parts he took off the Miata it was $38,800 and 9 months working on it when he could
Edit: Found it, here is the whole series:

Keep in mind that's a $7 LS3, probably $5k into the transmission, custom frame, probably $3k in the rear axle. That's for GM OEM basic components, using an older generation LS motor can be significantly cheaper.
You can pick up an LS1 for under $1k, LS2/6 for $2-3k. Complete Sikky kit with everything else needed for $4k. If you rebuild the engines then toss on another $1500 or so, you'll definitely be running a different cam so figure in at least some money for that but if it was a low mile salvage vehicle donor then it might not even need a rebuild.
So it CAN be done for significantly less but probably not any cheaper than $6k or so unless you picked up some used components for ultra cheap.
Most of the high estimated costs for swaps are because folks are paying out the 80+ hours of labor to a shop to do the work.

You can get the 2002 q45 engine which I'm using for as low as $250 heres the link : http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?userSearch=int&userPID=1000&userLocatio n=All+States&userIMS=&userInterchange=E%3FBAB&user Side=&userDate=2002&userDate2=2002&dbModel=34.6.1. 1&userModel=Infiniti%20Q45&dbPart=300.1&userPart=E ngine&sessionID=11000000075242584&userPreference=p rice&userZip=07011&userLat=40.8800000&userLong=-74.1446000&userIntSelect=1155311&userUID=0&userBro ker=&iKey=&userPage=3
The engine wiring harness for like $175 link : http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?userSearch=exact&userPID=1000&userLocat ion=All+States&userIMS=&userInterchange=%5B%7C%7Br &userSide=&userDate=2006&userDate2=2008&dbModel=34 .11&userModel=Infiniti%20M45&dbPart=699.1&userPart =Electrical%20Part%20Misc%20and%20Wiring&sessionID =11000000075242897&userPreference=price&userZip=07 011&userLat=40.8800000&userLong=-74.1446000&userUID=0&userBroker=&userPage=1&iKey=
Then you will need the 40 pin connector from auto sport wiring harness.
The good thing is the engine fits using the stock vq mounts ( I think they might have to be inverted) without any modification.
I started a new thread to document the swap, link : https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...wap-guide.html
