painting interior

Hi guys,

I also have a 1990 civic Si as my daily beater besides my G35.

I want to paint the interior.

I have a question about sanding the dash and other plastic parts have have like a (reptile skin) texture to it.

If I sand it before I clean and paint it... would it get rid of all that texture and make a smooth surface?

Or I cannot sand parts that have texture to it?

Thanks in advance!

Actually is vinyl. If your going to sand. It's just going to ruin it. Try cleaning it with a cleaning solvent and then wipe dry. Next use a Vinyl paint, regular paint work just flake off. Your could use adhesive promoter before you lay the paint.

there's no real point in the adhesive promoter, just take your time cleaning. once you think you're done cleaning it, CLEAN SOME MORE. that cannot be emphasized enough. without proper cleaning either your new color will flake or look blotchy. look into SEM. excellent stuff. not cheap though... but you can get a small break if you look online for a case buy of it.
good luck!

I'll beg to differ. An adhesion promoter like Bulldog helps ensure a better finish that holds up.
