Paint defect on 05 G35, Clear coat failure
3 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone.
I have a problem with the paint on my 2005 G35 Coupe, there are circular dots, I put pictures. But, actually is much worse. I went to а body shop, but they don’t know what exactly is, and what caused it. They told me that look like clear coat failure that may have formed from acid rain or any chemicals in the air. Also I let them try buffing and waxing the car, but that did not fix the problem, only made them not that visible. The Infiniti dealership told me that there is only one year warranty on the paint, and they don’t see anything wrong with it, that is a normal condition. Yhea..OK… So, please if someone has seen something similar or knows what could be, let me know. I will be very happy to try something else to fix it instead of paying $6000 for repainting. |
have you sent it to a detailer to try sanding? might be a better alternative to a costly repaint!
I dont kno what it is either, but it could be acid etching...like something was dropped on the paint and left there (unknowingly by you of course) |
Do you park under a tree? Or near an airport?
Those look like tree sap spots, where tree sap has been left on the paint and has eaten into the clear coat. The same can happen with jet fuel. I wouldn't say this is a defect to the paint. |
my friends 09 civic got that same problem the next day he got his car LOL but it came off with goo gone o_O

try clay bar
|
As someone recommended, wash the car then try claying it. If that does not work, you may want to bring it to a professional detailer to get another opinion. Do some research on local detailers or head over to autopia for the top notch guys.
They can tell you if this is something that can be polished or wetsanded out. Best of luck, Nick |
Definitely tree sap, and definitely can be fixed with some SIMPLE detail work..
|
it could be your car was egged the egg shells leave those marks

@chipstakn
what would you suggest to use in order to fix this? I have 2 similar spots on my hood and I was leaning toward having a professional detail job done on it (wash, claybar, inside out -- make it look CLEAN) but it's not cheap but if it will remove the spots; I'm for it. :) |
I had this same problem with my old car and didnt bother trying to fix it and sold it
|
you guys... come on.. go buy a clay bar for 20 bucks.. try some rubbing compound or some simple polish.. do you guys ever clean your own cars? this stuff is simple!!!
|
Zaino AIO will get rid of that
|
yea the 350z has the same paint problems
|
HA! the Stealership! of course they dont see anything wrong...

Hi everyone, I know it is an old thread but for those of you how are interested my car now is totally repainted. My insurance decide to cover the damage because it was a chemical splash, it was like brake fluid, the paint has holes through it and damaged all the way to the metal. However, repaint was the only way to fix it, my insurance covered total price of $5400. I can post pictures if someone is interested. The car looks better than new it is excellent paint job, I still can’t believe it.
P.S. thank you guys for your time and advices. :8: |
