Rear Spoiler Help Please!

I have purchased a factory USED spoiler from someone. Can anybody help me on how to install this correctly? Like how could I get the spoiler template? And the adhesive that's on it? The clips and grommets are available from the dealer, but not the template and the adhesive.

The adhesive is nothing more than double sided sticky tape I believe. When I installed my spoiler that's about all it looked like. You should be able to get that at all kinds of places, get a good quality tape though 3M or something, not just the cheapo generic stuff that will not stay stuck. As for the template, I wish I had kept mine, I would have gladly sent it to you. However I'm not sure it's all that useful. It is made of paper, and like all paper it very slightly swells and contracts with the environmental conditions. It also was folded up, and when I layed it all out on the car it was tricky to get it taped down just right. I was meticulous about it, and scared to death when it came time to drill all the holes in the trunk lid. But I did, and all the holes were dead on with the template. The spoiler almost didn't fit. It was just a tad bit off on a couple of the snap rivet things, I'm guessing because of the way the paper swells/contracts.

I think you could do just about as good of a job manually. Try maybe putting some nail polish/paint on the bottom of the three bolts that are on the spoiler and carefully lowering it to touch the trunk where you want it mounted. That should give you the marks for drilling the three main holes. Those are not very critical. Neither is the 13/16" hole for the wiring harness. The critical ones are the six holes for the snap fittings. Once you get the three holes drilled for the bolt mounts you should be able to get the spoiler to lay flat on the car, you should be able to do a similar thing then with putting some paint or something on the snap fittings to mark their spot.

I DO still have the instructions I believe for mounting the spoiler. Are you interested in those? I can scan them and email to you if you want. PM me if interested.

Thanks for your response. I'd love to have a copy of the instructions, that would be great. it does sound like a scary proposition, drilling into one's trunk lid. It seems like a little over kill with all the clips tp install.
One other question, how did you tie in the 3rd brake light? Is the car prewired to accept the wires from the spoiler?
Thanks again for your help.

yep, car is pre-wired. Once you take the trunk lid trim panel off you can see the plug for it. I'll scan some pics tonight of the spoiler install guide then. Private message me your email address and I will send them directly to you, or post a reply here with it and I'll send to you later on tonight.
The instructions talk about replacing the gas cylinders, I never did that. I kept the new ones but figure I'll install them when/if the current ones wear out, don't worry if you didn't get the new cylinders I don't think they are that necessary.

You local dealer may have a few "used" templates laying around that they might be able to let you have (or borrow)...

Some of the mechanics keep some extra ones sometimes...

Give 'em a call!!
