So what i gather from everyones responses is that the main and pretty much only real negative to the porsche would be depreciation down the road (yes also backseats in it r small, but that just means that the midgets i would be able transport in the g37s would hav to crouch a little lower =D ), but i plan to use the car i choose as a daily driver for the next 4-6 years (at an original price of 80-90k i wouldnt expect this car to giv me any problems anytime soon) and then buy a new one while keeping the old as a weekend toy or possibly trade in, not sell for profit.
While the technology is better in the g37s, i could easily throw a gps in the porsche with the money saved and its already got a cd changer and bose system. With slightly more torque and about the same hp at a much lighter weight im expecting the porsche is a much "funner" ride (havnt test drove one yet, tried the g37s: sick speed, could have better cornering).

So i guess based on what im looking for which is a nice looking car with fun performance to enjoy on the weekends, that can still function as a sexy looking everyday driver for 4-6 years without big problems (short commutes usually, north jersey) im leaning toward the porsche, i think if i can get him to 29500 ill buy it, any other thoughts???

Just get an 04-05 sl55 amg or an 05 z06.

I wanted to buy the sl65 so badly, but my wife said she would divorce me, plus we just had a kid, so looking at "family" friendly cars. Audi rs4, rs6, or E55 amg... hehehe.. all she sees are 4 doors!!!!

+1000...Dont get me wrong I love my G35 but I personally do not like the G37 styling overall look of the car Plus the g37 is heavier than a motha so if you really want a Fun ride and performance PORSCHE all the way..I assume a person buying a porsche would not care too much about maintenance cost since you must have €/money to purchase and afford maintenance. But if you have to ask yourself can I afford keeping the car up than the carrera is just NOT for you IMO.. hoped I helped out

thats a pretty hard choice. i say get both. haha jk. it depends if you what a used car or a new car and if you want to save a little money. but the porsche will be way more for maintenance, insurance, parts. and the G will be obviously cheaper.

Just get the porsche and stop worrying. Just worry about the maintenance later. You will be happy with that car even though it's 7 years. Just hope it last another 6 years like your planning without any big problems. But you should have posted on the myg37 forum instead of here if your looking for a G37. It's gonna be bias, I like my G35 coupe way more than the G37 coupe. But if both cars are used just get the better used car.

At this point, fear of future major maintanence costs are the only thing steering me away from the Porsche, i mean its only got 15k miles on it, shouldnt i be pretty safe for another 4-6 years driving on it, theres not much long distance driving in my life day to day anyway.

Heres the car, hes asking 32000, what do you think the best price is i could get him to.

I'd go with the G. I was looking into a Porsche Carrera before I bought my G and the reason I went with the G is because of the maintenance costs.

If you want an economy car that's easy to maintain, buy a toyota corolla
+1...

no offense to ANYONE HERE but I have friends that buy really big houses when they can't even maintain it properly and then suffer later on when the bills start to pile up... same goes for a car... if you can afford a porsche. buy one... but to simply buy one to make yourself look bigger is not going to work as that car requires you to maintain it and to do that.. you will need a lot more dough compared to the G37.

the porsche is faster... even with the base model.. the interior on the 03 is garbage and of course, its meant for speed.. thus the lower weight. The g37 is far more advanced but a bit slower. (it is no slow car).

I wanted a porsche but i figured.. the amount of money I would spend on the porsche, it can go towards some killer mods for the G.

note: as for depreciation... i'm not even sure how this works with porsches... as some of the really older models are more expensive then the G37 so who knows, maybe that 2003 porsche will jump back up or level at a certain point.... the G37, maybe not in the next 5 years but, it will drop faster then a porsche as soon as the next generation comes out.

Hell..My wife wants me to get a pick-up truck...she really opposes me getting an NSX for a family car.

honestly i would go with the G37. like everyone else said it is alot cheaper to maintain and its still a fun car to drive maybe not as fun as the porsche but still pretty fast and pretty fun. plus the other thing that i saw about the porsche is thats its AT. personally if i was buying a sports car like that it would have to be a MT to be fun to drive but thats just my opinion.
