Anyone else running CARB legal Vortech Kit V-3 SCi
Getting ready to order the full kit p/n 4NZ218-038L.
This will be installed on a 03 G35 6MT Brembo coupe.
Looking for anyone locally with experience. Any issues you encountered with installation, wiring, smog checks, driveability?
What about any other parts that are recommended? Steps the install manual leaves out? Tips for best results? Tricks? Please share 'em here.

Boost is fun so welcome to the club!
First off, if you haven't already, read this thread...all of it:

Before ordering the full kit, you should talk to your tuner about what he/she recommends for fuel, engine management, and supporting mods. Where do you plan to go for tuning?

Thanks, It's been on the bucket list for ages.
I'm not talking to a tuner, and don't plan on any tuning... not even sure it's possible with the kit as it comes with a piggy back fmu.
Sticking to the complete kit for now. Down the road, we'll see...

if you change the pulley or fuel system to something other than what comes with the full vortech kit, then no that's technically not CARB legal at that point, and you will get caught during CA inspection unless you hide things really well. I think a fuel pressure regulator from a return kit is usually the dead give-away that raises red flags at inspections.

Without a proper tune, the only thing you're going to find down the road is a blown motor. Living in the bay area, you have access to one of the best Nissan/Infiniti shops on the west coast at Z Car Garage. It will take you time to get in their queue, but you really should be working with a shop even if you plan to install the kit yourself.

But, with all respect, there is nothing to tune here man
Thanks for your help (seriously appreciate it). Enlighten me? What part of this kit can be "tuned"?

Then why does Vortech state on their website :
"Vortech's G35 Supercharging Systems are available as either a complete, fully calibrated bolt-on system, or as a V-3 SCi tuner kit for custom installations"

I've taken the time to email a vortech rep regarding this point, as well as contact zcargarage.
Rob at zcargarage was very helpful as well in answering questions and confirmed this. Also went as far to say that even if I brought the car in after install, there would be nothing they could do to tune it unless I replaced the vortech supplied fmu and timing unit.
Yes if you buy the complete kit for your application, that does come with everything to make it run correctly and be legal.
We do not “tune” the computer on this model, what we do is include an inline fuel pump, a Fuel Management Unit, and a Split Second timing box.
Those 3 components take care of the calibration for the vehicle.
This works perfectly as long as the vehicle is stock.
