So i accidentally dropped some crazy glue onto the surface side of my panel so decided to paint it. I used a metallic paint which i used on the interior door handle trim as well. It matches the stereo cluster a lot too. However, since it was cold here i used a portable heater while drying my coats of paint and it was too close. It left an interesting texture, looks metallic. What do you guys think? Hope it dont look too ugly.

Im okay with the way it is but i think i'll spray paint the stereo and climate control trim as well as the shifter housing one too. Never went into the stereo yet. Not sure how to take that trim off.

 

Fair enough, but I recommend you sandpaper 400 grit the dash before you put the primer and paint. Or else you might start getting cracks in the paint.

I also used an Aluminium coloured paint for my trims but wasn't sure about clear coating it too.
Looking forward to seeing how the clear coat looks on the trims.
I broke (after being broken and glued multiple times already) my clock trim/bezel again and still haven't put it back yet. Not sure whether to paint it black to match the dash or the Ally silver to match the radio trims......

if it was me I would paint it gloss black. However, painting silver is a lot easier.

Edit - if I was use you I would stay away from the clear coat idea because you will need to remove the dash trim but also center console (everything silver), you will then need to sandpaper them all (which means you will be scratching the trim) , and then spray them all with clear coat. And, if you make a mistake you will have to start all over again, sandpapering all the trims taking the clear paint off etc.

If i had dark interior id probably do a glossy black (or try to). However i have tan and dont like it so aluminum/metallic/ally silver are my only options. Mine shines and stands out. Only downside may be a possible glare if driving towards the sun. Im waiting on new clock backlight LEDs. Then ill post few pics.

 

The installed piece with a white LED swap for the clock back light. I like that led is not too bright and the white color change makes it pop.

I like the texture, but would grab some SEM and color match it to the tan.

 

I agree the silver doesn't jive well with the tan, but I think if you painted all your silver interior pieces black it would look ballin'. Black and tan/brown is a classic combination and used on a lot of things.

 

i kinda dont want to paint black because the car is silver. Only the wheels are black.

 

You do realize black/silver is a very popular style combination right? It's your car so do what you want I was just throwing out my opinion.......
