At least I'm not the only one being hit with these supernatural extraordinary encounters of the world.
He's lucky it's the sunroof, shouldn't be hard to find one from a junkyard/parting out G and replace.
A sunroof from a parting out G shouldn't set him back much seeing as it's not a high demand part (unlike bumpers/headlights/seats/engines/etc)

In order for glass to shatter it must be struck by an object or immediate climate change! Example: Extreme hot weather, your glass being hit by cold water will shatter glass and why most Car Washes warn of this happening! So...if it didn't shatter by this method, it was struck by something! If it was already cracked, movement/pressure could make it shatter! Don't know of any other possibilities

Yes, I've seen many posts with G35's sunroofs shattering. Most occurred in warmer climates. I've even seen some guys have theirs sucked out on the freeway.

Happened to me in Los Angeles. Thought a bomb had gone off somewhere. Insurance covered.

Happened to me today on the capital beltway just outside of DC Was about 20 degrees outside today. Didn't see anything hit the car to cause it to shatter but doesn't mean something didn't hit it. Talked to insurance company tonight and will be getting a call back tom to see how they want to proceed. Ill throw up a number for replacement when all settled if anyone is curious once dealt with. Bought this car less than a year ago and have already replaced the rotors and pads, the passenger window motor, a rattling hvac blower motor. Now soon the sunroof glass. I think Ive got some bad luck

Pic 1 shows a few miles after It broke
Pic 2 once to work and door shut again
Pic 3 after vacuuming out the majority of the shards I could get at at midnight at a gas station

Thank goodness the shade was closed or all that would have made it inside the car while I was driving on 495.

Urbanengineer, I worked through my insurance company to get my glass replaced. It fell under my $500 deductible so replacement came out of pocket. All said and done replacement was about $390 dollars. The replacement glass the insurance company found off a different g35. That glass only cost me about 125 dollars but the rest of the cost was labor for glass replacement and the headliner had to be pulled to removed shards of glass that was caught in between the roof and liner. So most of the price for replacement wasn't for glass and install but was the labor related to headliner removal and replacement to clean up all the damn glass.

I'd say that isn't a terrible price. Nice man. Well done!
