It's safe but pointless considering our cars don't make power that high in the power band without at least having new cams

Stock redline on a 5 AT is 6750
I make power to about 7000.
Shift at like 7050/7100
Been tuned for like 3 years now.
No problems related to the tune at all

So you are telling me my tuner didnt know what he was talking about? I could of bumped up my stock rev up higher???? without upgrading the valve springs or valves or cams?!?!

If so Im going to call uprev and tell them they didnt even increase my rev!

I thought yours was at 7600? And you have no new valve springs or valves or cams? and it runs up there just fine?

When I first got tuned Shawn Church told me that he bumpedup to 7600 I was extremely concerned. But after a few conversations on the subject, I conceded to his knowledge.
your tuner was probably not that familiar with the Vq engine. The tachometer reads high. Nissan designed it like that.

Yeah when i look at my dyno charts, it drops off barely at 6750.... more like 6650... ugh.. when i look at your dyno charts it drops at 6900-7000.

Also when I rev it doesnt even go passed 7. like you said if it read higher and it was set at 7 like the tuner told me, i would have been reading 7100 or 7200.

Higher Rev only works in tip mode

yes - not only is it safe, it is very common...

Technosquare determined years ago that 7100 is the safe limit for first gen DE (for those that dont know, Technosqaure was the first to crack the ECU and was the only tune available for several years)...

Beyond 7100 it is advised to upgrade valve springs, oil pump and rod bolts... cams and valves have nothing to do with the safety of higher rev limiter - but can be part of helping take advantage of power in the upper end...

The reason people bump rev limiter (to safe limit) on stock internals is to max out revs and the drag strip so that you can finish the 1/4 mile in 3rd gear (shifting to 4th will fubar the entire run).

All of this is very old information, very much common knowledge to many of us that have been around a while... and have been racing and modding Gs for a while...

BTW, UpRev bumps rev limiter too... I have no idea why they wouldn't have bumped yours

yea I didn't think about it in a drag race sense but I can see how it'd be necessar.. on stock internals tho and with our restrictive stock plenum it's very difficult to keep making power that high up in the band

Wonder if you guys will get better numbers than Motordyne...keep us posted!

As others have pointed out, its alot harder to launch a manual than autos who simply just stomp on the gas and dont worry about anything else...why do you think theres so many videos of slow cars "beating" others cars like OMG I'm a civic and i just beat a porsche when you can clearly see that the other guy either didnt launch right or missed a shift....it takes a lot more experience to actually perfect the launches and shifts in a stick shifts to get the best times possible as opposed to an automatic where anyone can just jump in any type of car and get pretty much all the best time that auto car can run...

I wouldn't brag about beating a stick shift with like 10hp more, go to the track get your best time for the day, then compare...I also don't know why you would raise your limiter to 7600 when you shift at 7100, i guess just another thing to brag about haha

Nonethless cool numbers, I'm sure I'll get to those numbers with the mods i have planned -_-

Well I took my car back to uprev today. Got the rev bumped up to 7200. Apparently it was already at 7000... not to me.. bc I compared it the stock map and the dyno sheets.. it rev the same. Now with the bump of 7200 its a world of a difference IMO.
