The Yellows are meant for aftermarket springs. For OEM's, definitely try to get on the softer settings, otherwise everything is over-dampened. You're basically riding on the dampers instead of the springs.

 

This is my 3rd setup with Koni Sport/Yellows. In all of them, seems like I end up settling with front (1/4-1/2 turn from full soft), and rears (3/4-1 turn from full soft). Even a little higher than that ends up being pretty penal. Can't imagine starting rebound at full firm!

 

nice set up.. glad to see someone going with konis.. im thinking about using them myself when i get around to swapping things.. i mean they are rebuildable and handle awesome.. most people just go for maximum drop and dont really care about handling i guess.. i just wish ground control was still supporting the g/z's as i think the koni/gc set up would be hands down the best over all set up.. its proven to be on alot of other cars as well..

 

welp, i couldn't leave well enough alone with just the koni's. the past few weeks i also added eibach springs, SPC rear camber arms and toe bolts (not a DIY in my opinion. driving to the alignment shop was extraordinarily dangerous. i should have paid the shop to install the toe bolts in retrospect), G37S coupe wheels (which look sexy as hell on the sedan), oem lip spoiler, and Michelin Super Sports. i think i'm finally satisfied with this car and hopefully will no longer be eyeing 335i's. feels quick, responsive, tight but not harsh, and looks much better lowered on 19's.

 

Noticed Tirerack has KONI's for 20% off until the end June. Not too bad.

Mishmosh, I am glad you posted this, because my 2007 G35 Sedan with automatic won't allow the split-fork Koni Yellow Sport shocks in front, which are sold FOR the 2007 G35 Sedan/coupe! I found that the product number 8241 1216 is not for our '07 sedan as Koni promises. It appears you were able to utilize the 8241 1282 for the fronts, and 8241 1283 for the rear. The 1282 and 1283 are said to be for the 2008 G-series according to Koni. Take a look at my thread posted today about my experience:

My 08 G35S sedan has about 80K on her and I believe it's time for new suspension...just don't tell the Mrs.!

Been doing homework and I think I'm going the same route: 2011 Nissan 370Z Koni Sport shocks w/2008 G35 sedan Eibach springs.

Mishmosh, could you update us on how everything is holding up now? Any current photos you can share?

Also, how is the tire wear? Eibachs for our 08 sedans only drop the car 1.4" (f) / 1.3" (r). Would we need a camber kit for that amount of drop?

I would definitely recommend the SPC adjustable front upper control arms with the drop. it'll pay for itself. I bought those after i quickly wore through the inner tread of my supersports

 

i am thinking the camber kits will be needed. all aftermarket springs i have used have settled some more after a year or so. the front camber arms need at least the top of the strut removed. the rear is a pain to do because you need to dremel out slots but doing it from the getgo will save yourself some labor.

still think eibach koni is an amazing setup on our g35. I have had Koni inserts on a WRX and Bilstein HD on a BMW X1 and the rides aren't as nice. the adjustability controls the Eibach springs perfectly.
