Squealing from rear driver's side wheel when in motion
 

Hey guys, I tried searching for this problem for a while but couldn't find anyone's post with my exact circumstances. I have a automatic 08 G35x sedan with 120,000 on it. I left from CT for Boston two nights ago (1.5 hour ride) and my car sounded fine the whole way up. I got gas about half way through and when I backed up from the pump I heard a small squealing from the left rear wheel (it stopped when I braked). As I continued on forward, the noise stopped and I pretty much forgot about it until I reached a toll twenty minutes later. When I opened my window I could hear the loud pitched squeal, which continues non-stop until I brake. Taking off from the toll my E-Brake light flashed and beeped for half a second and went away. It wasn't engaged and in fact I rarely everrr engage it unless I'm parking on a hill. Got to Fenway, parked in a garage, saw the Sox play (2 run walk off win :biggthumpup:) and when I left the garage it was making the same noise (again, going away only when I braked) and getting higher pitched as I sped up. When I got back to CT and pulled off the exit it had stopped. It didn't make any noise yesterday, but started up again just as loud as the first day as I drove to work this morning...Any ideas?

Check your pads, there's a metal indicator that is designed to squeal when the pad gets low.

Don't they only squeal when the brake is applied?

are you rotors in good condition? might wanna take out the tire and see if everything is functioning right. you could also put some copper grease on the pads that might help.

Sounds like it may be a parking brake issue to me. Maybe a shoe is dragging, or the pedal isn't disengaging properly, or ... :dunno:
