Should I keep my HFC's on? Chime in.
Right now my setup is a Stilllen exhaust, with Berk HFC's and Osiris tune. The thing I hate is the raspy sound I get until the exhaust is warmed up after about 15 minutes of driving. Do you think I should take off the cats or keep them on? Also tomorrow i am taking my Stillen off and putting a FI exhaust. Would that help with the raspiness?

just a personal opinion but I'd keep the HFC's, I don't think that the HFCs are making the raspy sound (maybe I'm wrong) but I've got Berks HFCs on my car and if anything it's only made it sound deeper not raspier, but then again I don't have an aftermarket exhaust on yet (Invidia Q300 should be installed any week now) so I'll let you know how raspy that is, but I'd say keep the HFCs, personally I feel they are giving me good gains (butt dyno that is)

HFCs are great. keep em

Interesting! I have the FI exhaust and FI HFC's and have no rasp at all. Nice deep tone, especially when I down shift...sound exceeds my expectation.

FI will completely solve your problems!!! I have no rasp at all even from a cold start!
|
You should remove your stillen exhaust and sell it to me. Sent you a PM.

Well I did finally get my FI exhaust and had it installed, and boy what a difference in sound between the two exhausts. My raspy sound is completely gone.

I have the Stillen HFC's and I coulnd't stand the vibration and raspy sounds. I bought exhaust wrap and had it installed. It killed 80% of the noise and now everything is good. I'd try that first exhaust wrap first and see what you think. The wrap, plus installation was only $90.

You still hear the exhaust tone on the freeway, but a lot less than the Stillen especially in town. i can actually hear my intake now when i accelerate.

So basically the FI is quieter than the Stillen...
Ramo - Would you any videos of the difference? I currently have the Stillen exhaust and I'm looking to add some HFCs or Testpipes... How did it sound with the Stillen and Berk HFCs? You mentioned it was raspy until it warmed up but that goes with almost any exhaust even the stock OEM exhaust. Honestly, I don't mind a hint of raspiness. The stock e46 M3's rasp like crazy and I like the way it sounds. Let me know cause I have the chance to buy the Berk HFC for a good price. Thanks |
I've learned that videos dont do these systems justice.
I was on the exhaust fence for quite some time and finally decided on the FI. The tone sounds higher in the videos than in person. I'd call it perfect, but that's just my opinion. |
I'd agree with Aeson, but I'd stay go with Invidia I love how it sounds
