Transmission Stutter
I am at my wits end trying to figure out whats going on with my trans. 07 auto sedan.
At 3000-3200 rpms at highway speeds while gradually accelerating I have been getting a shaking to the entire car, like a stutter. Done trans service at regular intervals using only the fluid that Infiniti calls for. Checked the TPS' while driving and it occurs to see if it is sensor related. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you find was the solution. Thank you |
If it goes away once your torque converter locks up, you may have worn out clutch bands. Classic symptom.

I have 140K on the trans. Is there anything I can do repair it that is inexpensive or is it a full overhaul repair?

Ask a mechanic you can trust, transmission shops are notorious for fixing perfectly good transmissions, and have him confirm it, and unless they can tighten the bands a bit, no, there is nothing short of a rebuild/replace that will fix it.

I change my AT fluid once a year!
Often times changing AT fluid when Nissan recommends isn't nearly enough! Check the color/level of your trans fluid, it's not impossible that the stealership charged you for service you didn't receive. Our AT's operate on fluid pressure, low or burnt fluid could cause your issues...worth a try and it doesn't cost anything!

As Gary said check your fluid, if it's good it will be a pink to red color, if it is more brown and has a burnt smell, the damage is done.

If there is a burnt smell, the clutches have been slipping. New fluid change would be advised, but I'll bet it won't help.
BTW: How was yours changed? Flush or drain? |
Last year the filter was done with new fluid, and then couple months ago I did a drain and fill
