i'm concerned

the carpeted area above the tranny next to my right leg gets heated up some times it feels hot to my leg, I haven't figured out what's causing it

also the shifter pops out of 2nd and 4th gear quite easily

I'm wondering if there's something wrong

That area of my floor gets pretty warm (with the heating system on) too. I am pretty sure that it's normal.
I have an auto but have owned many manuals. Your shifter problem seems quite odd. Does it pop out of gear completely on its own or with a little bump? Sounds like something you should have the dealer look at.

It should not be poping out of gears at all, bumps or no bumps!

I'm just leeding him to elaborate on the symptom a little. You can get a lot more help on here if you provide as much information as possible.
For example:
Did he mean it pops out completely unexpectedly or it just seems to pop out to easy when shifting compared to other gears?
Is it under normal driving or at full throttle?
I agree it shouldn't feel different but more information may help other 6MT drivers and mechanics here, help him out a bit.

it pops out way too easy. My 03 Maxima SE 6 speed you have to either use a lot of brute force or wait until the rpm drops low enough like 100 rpm before you can pop it in neutral without hitting the clutch.

just the other day i was driving with my hand on the stick and for no reason at all it slid out on me going around 30 mph i'd say.. . there might be a slight force from my hand, just odd.. . that it's brand new with 4700miles on it so far

Never had that in my 6spd.
