attach roof spoiler with silicone?

Just curious to see how people have attached their roof spoilers. Mine will be here soon and Im not attaching it with just 3M tape. Most likely I plan on using some sort of silicone adhesive unless someone has recommendations.

I've seen people use silicone as you stated.
One guy used windshield adhesive. I think that's overkill, but to each his own. :)

I used silicone on mine along with 3m, rock solid for well over a year now, Just take your time and as i was a bit hasty and in some areas applied the silicone to close to the bottom edge of the spoiler which squeezed/smeared tiny amounts onto the rear windshield. But it was very minimal as i haven't tried or remembered to clean it for over a year now.

what kind of silicone did you use?

Ill have to check but i remember it was clear silicone which was designed to be used with windshields/glass etc, i got it from advance auto parts and that was the only clear type silicone they had to be used on glass surfaces.

Hope this helps, if not i can try to find the tube in my shed tomorrow.

hey i have the stillen roof wing, after paint the spoiler itself was very stiff, so the bodyshop heated it up for about 5-10mins and used the 3m plus some windshield adhesive, like stated above might be overkill but the spoiler isnt going anywhere! also the adhesive itself was fairly cheap less than $10 made by proform!

I 3M'ed it to death and I don't think it'll budge at all. I like the fact that if I end up changing my mind about the RS, taking it off won't take me all day.

Which roof spoiler did you get OP? I am also looking for one.. however I'm not really diggin' the Stillen one. It's too bulky IMO.

Then you might liike the ravspec, its much more subtle.

Slightly OT, i used RTV adhesive silicone (pic below) to attach my trunk-lid spoiler. So far, so good.

well my roof spoiler just came and guess what...they actually included some silicone adhesive in addition to the 3m tape.

who makes the one you got? thats awesome that they throw that in to ease customer concerns and protect themselves from grief when it flies off.
