Clear Bra? To be or not to be?

I just purchased my first Infiniti - G35S. I love it and want to keep it pretty. It is an 07 and only has 41K miles on it. The paint is in amazing condition with only 5 small nicks that go to the black (it is liquid platinumin color)!!! I have used touch up paint on those nicks and would like to keep from getting any more. I have heard about clear bras. HAs anyone had any expereince with putting one on a used car? What are the pros and cons? Is their any particular manufacturer that is the best? Thank you for your guidance:)

I was in the exact same position as OP (year, kms, colour, condition, etc). I drive a lot of highway. The car only gets worse over time and re-painting is never the same as original (chips off easier).

Only real trade off with a clear bra is you see the lines where it ends. Small price to pay if you ask me.

Some bras fade in the sun, but I don't think this happens with newer, higher quality stuff.

Biggest tip - don't cut corners. Material is important, but a good install is crucial.
:hello:

I hear good things about 3M's clear bra. However, I don't have experience with them on my bumper. I do have their clear bra on my headlights and those have held up fantastically for 2+ years. Hope this helps!

I used 3M. Only had it on 6 months and no issues or regrets so far.

I plan to do this for the rest of my cars for the rest of my life.

I have 3M clear bra on my car. Its held up pretty good, and most of the time it unnoticeable. Over time you do get some dark smudges of road grime that wont come off but if you keep it up with the Plexus spray Polish it minimizes. High highway mileage give the bra an unattractive road rash over time. At that point you can just remove it and get a new one or not. If you do get it, don't go through the dealer, you will get bent over. Find a certified shop to do it for you...better yet find the guy that does it for your Infiniti dealership and have him do it at his shop. I did and it cost me less than half the dealers price. dealer

I have pulled the trigger and the 3M clear bra is being installed as I type. I will try to post a picture once it has been installed. I also purchased an after market metal chomre grill, to replace the plastic one that comes from the factory. There were a lot of nicks on the plastic one that irriatated me...

I have a factory one on my 2008. It's a little yellow and there's a distinct dirt line where the end of it meets the paint. The bugs don't really come off it either. I would say if you're going to put 100k miles on the car in a couple of years then get it. If you're not going to put that many miles on, don't get one. The only reason I still have mine on is because it came with the car.

You won't regret it. If you keep the car fpr a long time, it will be worth the investment. My front end is filled with rock chips. I have no doubt that a clear bar would have prevented most of em.

I've had my clear bra on since 2007 (3M) on my liquid platinum G. Had it professionally (no dealer) installed on the bumper, hood and mirrors.. You can barely see the lines, it has held up great with no yellowing- and no rock chips:) Do it you won't be disappointed.

Had my 2007 done when I got it in 2010...it only had 20k on it and was almost flawless. Best 500 bucks I have ever spent. I do a lot of hwy driving, like 25k a year, and it still looks great. There are a few little rock spots in it but they are only noticeable I am detailing the car. clear bra has held up great and is barely visible even after 2 years.

I had 3M clear bra on my OB sedan. It was great, but after my third bumper, I realized I don't need it on my bumper anymore. (I went through a lot of front bumpers because my car was so low)

In some spots, it works great. In others, it's relatively useless. The front bumper, hood, and behind the doors handles is where it's needed the most. The other pieces just seem like overkill.

Since my car was black, it was visible up close. In fact, it was so noticeable that it was just ugly up close. But it wasn't really visible or noticeable from more than six feet away.
