drivers door won't open!!!!
The drivers door on my 08 g35xs sedan won't open. I've done a little searching on here and no one seems to have the fix for this problem. I have already romoved the interior door panel half way from the top. looking down from the window sill but still can't get to the actuator. Gonna try to remove that metal panel in the interior of the door and see if that gets to it?anyone ever fixed this before? Know how to pop the door open? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ....thanks

Have you tried warming/thawing the car (door)? Sometimes it is the cold that freezes them up.

Maybe you could try opening the passenger side to see how the actuator action works, study how to trip it manually, and then pick up a Slim Jim tool and try to pop it open. They are available at pretty much any major auto parts store anymore.

Did u ever figure out the problem/solution? This just happened to mine today. Door wouldn't latch shut. Played with the mechanism from the outside and got it to shut but now won't open.

It do think it was just the cold maybe??? I took off the interior door panel from the inside. There is a video on YouTube that shows you how to do it. Just be really gentle so you don't crack the plastic. I made sure all the cables were still connected to the door handles and locking mechanism. The entire time i was doing this i had the heat on full tilt. Then i tried the inside handle really slowly and it finally caught and popped open. It has been in the negative temps this whole week where I live and it hasn't happened again. Not quite sure how but it pretty much fixed itself? Sorry i don't have a better answer for ya. Good luck!

You might try just heating up the latch area with a blow dryer or something but if you really want to get into tearing it apart here's that video link..
It's obviously a little trickier with the door stuck shut. It helps to remove the interior panel off the pillar between the front and back door. |
Thanks rpkinger. Surprisingly the door started working later that day. I thought for sure the cables were loose or disconnected but I'm guessing the mechanism itself was frozen and just needed time to thaw out even though the rest of the doors worked fine.
