Switch from OEM 17's to OEM 18's
I purchased a set of OEM 18's with the TPMS. I'm putting them onto my 04 Sedan with 245/40/18 tires to replace the stock 17's. Will the TPMS read the sensors from the 18" wheel? I did a search and couldn't find anything definately about if I had to take to the dealer to reprogram or if I could do it myself.
Thanks. |
I found this with the search. Will this work or is it BS?
There are two ways to reset, one easier but takes longer and the other is quicker but far more tricky. the easy way is to just unplug the battery and let her sit for x amount of time (i have never done that method, so i dont know the exact time span she needs to sit for) my preferred method is as follows. Timing is key on these moves, or else it wont work: 1)insert key and turn to "ON" (NOT ignition) 2)wait 3 seconds 3)fully depress, then release the gas pedal in a quick manner FIVE TIMES. You must do this in under 5 seconds. 4)wait exactly 7 seconds 5)fully depress and HOLD the gas pedal for 10 seconds if the above is done properly, such things as your check engine light will start flashing (while you are holding the gas pedal). if not, turn the ignition to OFF, wait, then try again. If yes: 6)fully release the pedal for 10 seconds. the lights will continue to blink. 7)fully depress and hold the pedal for 7 seconds. After that you can release, turn the ignition to OFF, wait a few, then go ahead and turn the engine over. Any error light (Check Engine, Tire Pressure, etc) that was on should be off. Hope this helped. Ive had to do this for my Check Engine Light several times b/c the gas cap was not screwed on properly. Therefore I know for a fact that the method above works. But, if you have time you can just disconnect the battery and let her sit overnight. whatever works for you. __________________ |
