how come BMW is always in this tests
|
Because they were able to purchase advertising test cars at a discount and in theory until the G35 that represented a top of the line handling car.
Tires represent 90% of handling ability on equal weight vehicles with suspension, shocks and sway bars adding in the other 10%. Always interesting to see their suspension tests where upgrades in springs shocks, sway bars, etc manage to squeeze out another 1,2, or 2.5% at best. Always check their tire vs 50 mph wet braking test, this surprises people with a total spread of >25 feet between the best and worst in just 110 feet. The bulk of US tires sold [across all sizes] each year are really bad in wet braking vs the best. Think about that the next time someone follows too close in the rain. |
