20's and tire pressure

What tire pressure should 20's on low profiles have? 32?

Im pretty sure its still the same as the stock 19's and what the door panel says, but i had my 20's mounted, balanced, and aligned at the dealership and i just checked the tire pressure and they each read 37.5, which seems excessive.

LOL I keep mine at 42 for the rears and 41 for the fronts. Way too many potholes round here.

-LangsurG35- Feb 24, 2008 10:33 PM

i keep mine at 40 respectively

bigc Feb 24, 2008 10:33 PM

i keep mine at 32 (or whatever it says on the door panel :))
overinflation can cause premature tire wear

40 psi

40 psi if you want to keep it from getting bent from pot holes. Rears are not as bad, but fronts...... I use to keep mine at 36-38 as per OEM spes on the door, but after replacing my front passenger 20's after I hit a pothole, up the PSI...:driving: :driving:

Door specs is good for stock wheels. Not aftermarket 20's.

bigc Feb 25, 2008 12:27 AM

that's what i thought until i had to have a tire patched...ran around to 3 shops trying to find one that would do it. i kept having to have the pressure topped off - each shop recommended 32-35 saying >40 was way too much and would cause the center of the tread to wear prematurely

false, tire pressures are set for a car's weight and load, regardless of wheel sizes, the tire pressure specified on the OEM 17,18, 19's are all the same. It doesn't change with wheel size, not sure where you were told that, but its completely wrong

^^ False!! Tires pressures matter in different size and brand. Call tire rack or discount tire or any tire company. It is based off of that individual tire load index. Tires all have different load indexes, thus needing different inflation pressures to reach the proper load index.

35-40psi on my 30 series for my 20s.

I wasn't sure what to do either. I have mine currently at 36 PSI for my 30 series on 20's. Seems like I'm good :D

BadBoy06 Aug 3, 2008 07:36 PM

I run my rears at 40 and fronts at 38

GzUpHozDn Oct 16, 2008 01:08 PM

What are the wheel dimensions including the offset of the 20's you have on the G? Itz hella SiiK!!

visibiliti Oct 16, 2008 01:22 PM

yea, using the door specs for aftermarket 20s on different tires is completely wrong.

personally, i called michelin directly and the lady on the phone did the calculation for me.. but honestly it isnt that hard to take 2 minutes to calculate it yourself, I just wanted to be sure.

anyways, i have 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 and run about 40 front and 38 in rear but its so close give or take a few psi that i just have them filled to 40.

+3 the door specs are for those tires on this car. Change the tire size and everything else changes.

I keep mine between 35 and 40.
