Review: OEM 19's & Eagle F1 A/S

Long time since I posted but I thought I'd let you guys here some opinion on Goodyear's new (kind of new) Eagle F1 All Season tires.

I was previously wrapped in Kumho Ecsta SPT tires so bare with me.

Eagle F1 a/s: WOW, I was thoroughly impressed after the first couple hundred miles. I was skeptical at first because of the all season aspect to them, but I was shocked and thoroughly impressed...Silent to a stop and a very comfortable ride. Noise comfort in the city/highway is at least 9/10 and I drive pretty spirited. I can't think of any con's yet but then again I just got them about 500 miles ago. They are really sticky and I handle better with these tires then with my SPT's. This was particularly interesting because I have had my camber adjusted to 0 degrees, or as close to 0 as possible on all 4 corners. On a materialistic note, I really like the way the sidewalls wrap the wheels. It's a very nice, raw and meaty look. I went with 35% sidewalls all around. (235/35/19 & 245/35/19)

The SPT's that everyone raves about...I can say this... They are good tires for the money. They lack ride/noise comfort but they were pretty sticky tires. They weren't as sticky as some of the potenza's and pirelli's, and definately not as sticky as the eagle's... but you save about 200 bucks on all 4.

I was able to get the Eagle's for 700 (thanks to tirerack and a rebate :bowrofl: )

Let's put it this way. These tires are so comfortable and quiet, they make me want to enjoy my time on the road! hahaha I have slown down just so i can savor these bad boys as long as possible. SPEND THE EXTRA 100-200 bucks, believe me it's worth it.

Sorry for the long post, hope it helps someone out there.

nice write up.. I am looking for my first set of new tires and try to decide if I want to spend the extra couple of hundres on the F1.

I'm shopping hard for tires right now. I have a set of M45 19's getting powdercoated as we speak formy X sedan, and can't make up my mind on tires to get. I'm looking at either going all season with the F1's or the Pilot sport A/S and ride through the winter, or just go with a set of HP summer tires. I have a pair of practically new 245-45-19 OEM potenzas, and I can get a second pair and go summer. Or sell the pair and ge a set of four A/S. I'm also a bit confused about size so maybe someone can help, 245-40-19 or 245-35-19 with the 350-z H-tech drop below. Pic below is on some 20's (too heavy!!)

IMO Michellin P/S AS> Goodyear Eagle F1 AS but there are plenty of people out there that would agree and plenty that would disagree. At that point I think it comes down to $$$
