Fix a flat on stock 18's possible?

Ok so I know I can't be alone on this one...

I had a system installed in my trunk and I took out the spare tire. Yea I have Infiniti Roadside assitance as well as AAA but I was wondering a fix a flat being used on the stock 18's? Getting a flat on one of these tires basically means it time to get a new tire so I was thinking if I kept a can of fix a flat with me... in the event that I do one day get a flat of somekind can it be used on these tires. On the can it says "not to be used with Z rated tires". I understand the stock 18's are W rated but would there be any problems using the fix a flat to get home where the spare is or to the nearest tire shop?

anyone and everyone's $0.02 welcome.

I too have the stock 18" and have had flats on each of the back tires. Depending on whom you talk with, some will not even attempt to plug the tire. Talking with Infiniti, they say one plug is perfectly fine, assuming not on the sidewall. I have plugged both back tires at least twice and know that the speed rating goes away. Regardless of the speed rating going away, I don't drive the car at speeds the tire is rated at. It is a personal risk one assumes when fixing the tire. It is easy for someone to say that once a tire is flat just buy a new one. Well, at the rate I have gotten flats, I would have bought at least 4 to 6 new tires already ($1,000 to $1,500 in replacement tires) and thus have decided to plug. If you really look at the tire, you will only be getting 15 to 18 thousand miles which means you will be getting a new set of tires in the first 12 to 18 months regardless.

It'll work fine for a temporary fix, but it should be patched not plugged for a permanent fix. Plugs are not as good as patches and a lot of the times they tend to have a slow leak. The thing is the stock tire pressure monitor will get screwed up by the fix-a-flat which is why it is not recommended in the owners manual.
