When I ordered my wheels the biggest question I had was, "How do I use my OEM TPMS on my aftermarket wheels?". I didn't want my tire pressure light to be on my dash all the time and I didn't want to use some magic trick to make it stop illuminating. I wanted it to work and do its job as intended. Through searching high and low this was the best solution I came up with and it works like a charm and doesn't require a band wrapped around the entire wheel. Here goes....

Example shown on 3 piece Volk GT-7's
TOOLS NEEDED: 12mm wrench, 6mm allen wrench

STEP 1:Order the correct mounting brackets from www.tpmssolution.com Tele #(714) 484-1070. They are made by iForged wheels. I needed the solution for 3 piece wheels which is solution 1. They look like this....


STEP 2:Remove the mounting sleeve from your TPMS using a 12mm wrench.



STEP 3:Insert the stem of the TPMS through the large loops on the mounting bracket.


STEP 4:Use the 12mm wrench and tighten the sleeve back onto the TPMS to secure it to the bracket.



STEP 5:Take the valve stem from your new wheel and unthread the half that sits inside your wheel from the stem that sits outside the wheel.



STEP 6:Remove the rubber and metal washer from the inner portion of the valve stem assembly and discard the metal washer as it is not needed.


STEP 7:Place the rubber washer onto the underside of the mounting bracket with the rounded side sitting on the bracket.


STEP 8:Place the valve stem portion of the valve stem assembly into the wheel making sure the rubber washer is seated between the stem and the wheel.



STEP 9:Place the TPMS bracket assembly over the valve stem hole while holding the valve stem in place on the opposite side making sure the rubber washer is between the bracket and the wheel.


STEP 10:Insert the inner portion of the valve stem assembly through the bracket and thread it onto the outer portion using a 6mm allen wrench. Tighten it down and VOILA! you are done!

 

this will most likely be moved to the diy section, but good write up to help out others so they don't have to take it to the stealership.

 

Thanks Yeah I didn't know where to put it, wanted to reach the biggest audience I could so I put it here. I called my dealership to ask how to mount them to aftermarket wheels and they hadn't a clue haha.

 

hey, how did you get those brackets? I checked their website, no way to order them, and called the listed number, no answer. Any where else to but them?

 

Sorry just checked this thread again now. If they don't answer at the number I'd keep trying as that is their direct line. If you still can't get through try finding a way to call iForged Wheel company as they are the ones who make the TPMS solution. Should be able to get through to them and they should be able to get you some.

 

Very cool. Did your shop have any problems mounting the tire onto the wheel with this in place? I had banded TPMS and they didn't have a problem mounting the tires however dismounting them was a different story. I'm curious to know if you've yet had your tires dismounted with this installed and if there was issues.

 

I hit you back via PM about what I paid. Anyways, I dropped the tires and wheels off during work and picked them up afterwards. They didn't mention any trouble with them. I have not had them dismounted.

This really worked. when i put my 20's on, dealer said rear wheels are too wide and sensors are far off to receive the signal. then i ordered these mounting brackets from IForged and now sensors work fine. Thanks Vitty.

Its not necessary for all aftermarket wheels, i guess it depends on the width of the wheel. im running 20" wheels and i only used the brackets on the rear wheels. you only have to use these brackets if you dont have enough space to install the sensors between the rubber and the wheels or if the sensor is too far to read. i dont think there is a way to find out without trying on the wheels.

 

No problem man Took me quite a bit of research to find this solution but it works like a charm and I'm glad I did. Gives me a little peace of mind knowing my sensors are still doing their job. I think it would also **** me off seeing the tire pressure light on all the time if I had to run without them.

 

It isn't necessary for all aftermarket rims. Some Volks don't need them and some do. The mounting point for the valve stem is what you have to go by. The mounting point on the stock 19" wheels is on the edge of the wheel. So when you stick the TPMS through it, the sensor sits flat against the wheel. With my Volks the mounting point for the valve stem is in the middle of the wheel. So if you simply stick the TPMS through it, it would stick straight up. You could technically run it like this, but if you hit a bump and your tire compressed right where it was sticking up, it would snap off. What wheels are you looking at? Maybe I could be more help once I know which they are. I would guess most wheels that have a fat old lip on them would need these because they like to hide the valve stem on the inside of the wheel, rather than on that pretty lip.
