Widest tire on sedan running coupe 19's

I did lots of searching and did not find a definate answer so here goes:

I'm running coupe 19's on my '04 sedan, got a Z susp drop and want the widest possible tire for the rears. I currently have the stock fronts which I hope to change to 245/40/19's. But I'm more concerned with rears. I had the stock tire on, when those went I got some used 255/35's. Then ran those out and tried some used 275/35 which look great and have great grip, but rub way too much. Next I'm gonna try a 265/35 and then 255/40's.

Anyone try any of these setups on sedan w/ coupe 19's? I looked into shaving the inner part of the wheel that meets the hub, but it doesn't seem like there's enough meat to make it worth trying.

Any ideas/input anyone? Thanks in advance.

I haven't run any size other than 245/40 F/R. I know there are a some folks running 255s in the rear. You may want to check this thread that was started today: https://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-...oem-wheel.html

I've done 255/35 but not 40's. I'm not that concerned about safety being that I've had my 275's for a while. I'll miss the grip, it's light years beyond the 245's and even the 255's. I'm really hoping to squeeze the 265's back there.

I came accross your car in my searchs. Looks great! Nice pics. Tastefully modded.

^Thanks man. I'm also considering going wider out back once I need to replace my tires again. Texasscout has done a ton of research on this, he could probably help you out.

How much wider? I'd assume u'd have the same issues, no? Too bad the sedan has no flares. If I had more money and time I'd research having some minor bodywork done to keep the 275.

What's worse in my scenario is that for some reason the pass side sticks out further than the driver's side. As if my car is crooked or something, never in an accident either.
