can't rotate OEM wheels, any truth to that?
So I had new tires put on my OEM coupe-18's last week and they made the comment that I couldnt rotate my wheels (new tires unidirectional)...I kind of cut them off and said "oh because of the TPMS" and they said "No. the center hub bore from front to rear is different, the rear wheels will not fit over the front hubs."
Is that true? I havent taken the time to test this theory, but I have never heard of this, plus to my knowledge Nissan has always used the same hub-diameter for all of its FR cars. With all of the sets being sold used and put on Maximas and 240SX's I have never once heard someone make that comment. chime with your thoughts. |
OEM tire rotation....NOT!
No, the OEM tire/wheels are not supposed to be rotated. So when you take
your G in for service make sure they don't charge you for that service. Gary |
there is a bolt sticking out from the rear hub that prevents you from installing them incorrectly.. so, I assume, he is right..
that bolt can be taken out easily, though.. |
directional tires are not supposed to be rotated.
You have to dismount them and re-mount them in the opposite direction to rotate. |
the bolt is actually on the front hubs, i assume that is removed for aftermarket wheels as well, if thats all that the problem is than f'it
as for you Mike, I bought UHPAS that are unidirectional for the OEM wheels, so I could do the trational tire rotation if I wanted to. Maybe the next time I'm at the DIY-shop, I'll switch them around...i think it sounds stupid that the hubs are different sizes, i couldnt imagine why they would engineer it like that. |
oh and thanks for the fast comments so far
