decided on Volk GT-C's but what size!?
I decided to put a set of volk GT-C's on my car (when i get the cash) *i get paid today $905 dollars* and so i think it'll prolly be the end of this month that i get em. I was thinking 18's, but then i kinda decided that i think i would go bigger on my wheels and not drop my car on springs later down the line cause i am gonna have to drive it for another 2 years to a high school with loads of speedbumps that i would have worry about bottoming out on. My friend cant even drive his 240 to school cause it sits too low and i dont wanna have to deal with that. I think that some 19's would fill up the wheel well a little better on low profile tires..... but can i even do that without messing up my vdc?! i have a 2004 coupe 6mt with the stock 18's with brembos. Will these wheels cause any problems with my brembros on 18 or 19's? I dont really wanna get 20's cause i dont know what that would do to the way the car drives. I dont wanna add a lot of weight or kill my car's driveability. I was also wondering what size tires i should put on the 18's or 19s (front/rear). I am completely new to wheels/tires as i drove a '93 suburban wiht 200k miles on it before i got this car at the end of May. I am working all summer and will have more than enough money to get my wheels by the end of june so i need some answers quick. (btw... how much should i expect to get for my stock wheels and tires with about 1000 miles on em? I have 700 on them right now and dont expect to put many more miles on them) I kinda want to sell them so that i can get my new wheels before waiting on my end of the month paycheck, but that would put me without wheels for a couple of weeks lol and i dont wanna have my g sitting on jack's for 2-3 weeks or whatever. And last of all.... where would u guys recommend buying them http://www.rdmwheels.com/volk/gtc.htm sells these wheels in the sub $2k price range.... any cheaper/ more reliable place to buy them. Also take into consideration that i would really like to get a tire/wheel package or something from the same place with tires mounted if possible so that i can just jack up the g and mount the tires myself. Thanks in advance for all ur suggestions.
KEEP IN MIND THAT IM OPEN TO ANYTHING U HAVE TO SAY ABOUT WHEELS.... THESE GT-C's JUST REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE and i want to fill my wheel well a little if possible but get some lower profile tires on maybe 19's to do so (without messing up vdc or turning radius or anything) 2004 Black on Black g coupe 6spd.... <3 aluminum pedals, clear corners, z tube, and pop charger. o yeah.... and i live in a suburb of houston texas with roads that are less than 20 years old (most around 5 years) that are super smooth and it gets down into like the mid 30's for a couple of days each summer.... so i dont need to worry about snow or ice.. lol i can just stay home on the days that it ices over (once ever 5 years or so) and most people down south just take a day off on those days anyway. We dont know how to drive on ice haha :p

I got my Volk GT-C in Gun Metal from Mike Lee at RevHighOnline.com. They are a sponser of this site, so check them out. Phone number is 1-321-945-3333 I believe. He included shipping, all hardware AND GT Caps for the price you mentioned above. I got 18x8...I have a sedan. i am doing 18x8 all around and 245/45/ZR-18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires all around. Should be nice. I too didn't want to mess up too much by going too big. With this setup, the most it seems to effect is the spedometer; so when the needle says 60, I am really going 61. Nothing big.
The only thing i need to buy now are good wheel locks to match the gun metal color. 2003 G35 Sedan 5AT {Z-Tube} {JWT_POP_Chrgr.} {V1} {21%_Tint} {Matte_Race_Pdls} {Blck_w/Grpht_Lthr} {Prm_Pkg.} {Sprt_Tuned} {Wntr-Sprt} {Nav.} {Xenon} {Sunroof} {Aero-Body_Kit_w/Spoiler} {Trunk_Mat} |

Go 19" if you have a Coupe. You may regret it if you go 18". Top Secret has 20s on their Z...and they are all about performance. If you can't afford the 19s, I'd wait and save up. It'll be worth it.

Re: decided on Volk GT-C's but what size!?
i live at home and my dad is making my car payments.... im working 10 hours 5 days a week all summer... money is no object here lol. I dont have to pay for anything so everything i make this summer before i go back to school.... is all extra spending money. I'm thinking 19x8.5 would be good..... what do u guys think? 8.5 is as wide as i can go right? What kind of tires should i get on them if i go 19 inches? I kinda wanted to get some new tires anyways cause i want a lower profile one than the pilot sports. I will have under 1500 miles on them when i selll them so i can prolly sell them a little quicker and for more money than those selling theirs with 5-10k on them or something. I wont be sacraficing any performance on these wheels by going with 19's will i? If i get 19's what kind of tires would be pretty nice to get and what size would u suggest that would look good (low profile plz and good performance)

Re: decided on Volk GT-C's but what size!?
the common size for the 19's is 19x8.5(f), 19x9.5(r) the tires i am using is S-03 which is nothing but AWESOME, size is 245-35-19(f),275-35-19(r)...some ppl are using 285 in the rear, but i think 275 are hugh enough! the ride is surprisingly smooth, might even be better than stock 18's...why not go with 20's...hurry mike have them in stock...

Re: decided on Volk GT-C's but what size!?
This is only my opinion, but if you don't want to drop it I would get 20's. 19's with no drop just doesn't look right to me. I wouldn't even consider 18's because with the lip they will look smaller than your stock ones. 20's will add some weight and slow you down a bit, but it doesn't sound like you are doing serious racing anyway. If you don't get 20's you might regret it after you see the 19's on your car. Just do some research and see what fits you best - make sure you check out the pics of the silver coupe on 20" GT-C's, it looks awesome.

Re: decided on Volk GT-C's but what size!?
ive had my car for less than a month.... i just got my ztube and pop charger tonight and im gonna order the rims and then get a plenum and exhaust and go from there. Im not taking it out to the track or anything, but we have a lot of street racing around here cause i live around some nice areas where kids have REALLY expensive cars. My best friends drive
bmw m3 lightening g sedan 350z e36 m3 328is 330 coupe and cars of that nature... all above listed in stick except the truck. So... although it sounds pretty childish... i gotta compete just for the sake of being able to say... "i beat u in that run" :P . im lookin to add some bolt ons and stuff here in the next couple of months and prolly go f/i in like 2 years or so. So i dont want huge 20's. I may go lower but from everything ive read about springs for the g35 turns me off...... i dunno maybe i'll lower it :) 2004 Black on Black g coupe 6spd.... <3 aluminum pedals, clear corners, z tube, and pop charger. go with 19x9.5 +21 offset in the front and 19x10.5 +24 offset in the rear... that's what I went with...
I agree with the others... 20's if you don't plan on dropping the car... I still would go with no matter... I should have went with 20's http://g.myspace.com/00052/06/06/52896060_l.jpg |

3 days later they were on my door step. Try 1-888-5622 I went with 19" because I did not want to run 30's tires. I was going to drop my car an 1" but I think my 2005 may sit a bit lower stock. I like it the way it is. Give Kyle a call. |
