TPMS Reset...

I've been doing some searching on resetting our TPMS for when we change out sensors in the tires/wheels. According to many this is a dealer only type of service due to the equipment needed to "reset".

Aside from this method of "reset", can and will the TPMS system "reset" and identify the new tire/wheel sensors if the battery is disconnected for a good 12+ hours? I would hate to attempt it and only to find out that I gained no benefit with regards to resetting TPMS and instead lost other valuable info and programming such as programmed radio stations, miles till maintenance schedule, MPG record, Homelink programming, etc.

I am leaning to think that by disconnecting the battery it should reset and auto-reprogram somehow, but... :dunno:

Thanks in advance for your guys' feedback on this.

When you put new sensors in the dealer uses a special tool to get the sensors to transmit to the BCU. Doing this while also being hooked up to Nissan's Consult which is their diagnostic tool allows the dealer to program the new sensors. I just went through this since i put new rims on my car recently.
