such a broke ***

well i really wish this didnt happen as soon as it did... but i've had my car for a year and a half, and today i noticed my rear tires are bald.

i've got factory 17's

i really wish i could get some 20's once my tires died out, but the time has come and i don't quite have the dough. so my question is... where would i find the best deal on two new rear tires, or maybe one of the fellow G owners that got new rims, would be willing to give me theirs for cheap?!?! thanks in advance guys and girls!

Try treadepot.com. Get some Toyos Proxes 4s for cheap my 245/45 17s were $108 each. or try tire rack and get the Yoko EV100 for cheap too. I don't know your budget so I might be out of line with the for cheap statement. I do love my Toyos-quiet and sticky.

look into avon tech M500. avon is a well known european tire manufacturer. they make the sedan 215/55/17's and 245/45's were around 120 each for w rated max performance rubber

Re: such a broke ***

For safety reasons I would not recommend mixing brands and types of tires on the front and rear of the car. Different tires have different adhesion limits, wear ratings, material compounds, water dissipating characteristics, etc... The car is designed to run on a specific brand and setup of tire. If you change the rears only (not the best idea to begin with) I'd definitely stick with the same brand and model that you have on the front at a minimum.

My advice is don't skimp out on the MOST IMPORTANT part of your car. Look into a new set of 4 new tires and bite the bullet. At least you won't have to buy more tires for another year or so...

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Kumho KH11's good touring (not max performance) tire for 100.00 apiece are also a good choice.

good luck

Re: such a broke ***

And that's why I'm glad we only get a month or so of really cold temps around here... ...Summer tires all year long! lol The Khumos do offer great performance at a great price, providing they suit your enviroment. I'll never buy Goodyears, Bridgestones, etc. after getting better performance and simlar wear out of the Khumos we stuck on my wife's previous car. The wet traction was great too.

I agree with the suggestion that you should try replace all 4, if possible. Keep in mind, Discount Tire offers a credit program that is also 90 Days Same As Cash. If you can't avoid the interest-free period, at least you could pay it out over time.
