Wheel opinions wanted: Classy 19's and light weight

I have been browsing around at wheels but all i've seen are wheels that are light weight 19's but they look too race oriented if that makes any sense. I want wheels like the stockers that are classy looking but in the end I want reduced weight so I can have faster acceleration. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds. I dont wanna make this car look like a race car.

OEM 19s

thats what i have but i want to use them for winter wheels and I would like some lighter than stock wheels for summer.

lighter than rays, and 19's? ...get ready to spend 5k+

Dragon35 Oct 16, 2009 07:54 PM

really? i didnt think this would be so hard to find.

Oem rays 19s at 8" and 8.5" are only about 20 and 21 lbs respectively. Trying to find lighter wheels than that is going to be difficult and definately expensive. ESPECIALLY when most go wider than oem at 9-10" wide which adds weight. The only good thing is the oem RE050s are absolute rocks and are easy to find lighter 19" versions.

I'm assuming all lightweight rims are gonna look race oriented because that's the reason they're light. What's your idea of classy for the G? Post pics of examples so I can get where you're coming from and what types of rims you wanna avoid.

Probably the best wheels for classy and light weight would be some nice Work Wheels. They probably come in around 24-28 lbs depending on size, offset, and spoke design.

Trust me for a set of wheels to be 19x9 or larger and around the 25-lb mark is considered light weight, unless you splurge and spend a lot more money for lighter wheels (which will still look racey IMO).

Look into these brands:
Work
Volk (specially the new G-generations)
Advan
AME

They'll be light and more affordable than HRE, BBS and the like.

well what do you expect? you want CLASSY wheels that are LIGHTER than oem 19s?

like the guys said, the reason WHY light wheels look like race wheels is because 9/10 they ARE race wheels

you just need to realize that you are asking for two opposite things in a wheel

if you want class

if you want lightweight, the rpf1s will suffice

Look for 1piece forged wheels. example:
Volk RE30 one piece forged
Volk CE28N one piece forged

2 piece are *usually* heavier and 3 piece even more.

Dragon35 Oct 18, 2009 04:03 PM

the volk CE28N is nice in silver, wonder what it weighs?

Q8y_drifter Oct 18, 2009 04:10 PM

Not sure but they're lighter than most other Volks of the same size.

EDIT: 18x9.5 CE28N's weight about 17lbs. wow. I'm guessing 3-4 more lb's for 19's of the same width? I'm liking these more and more now lol :D
