20" Axis Pentas
 

Hi, I started another thread about htis but no one responded :dunno: and I need some professional advice. I am about to purchase the 20" Axis Pentas for my platinum silver g35 2003. No brembos. After doing some heavy research I heard the best combination for this is:

20x9 F and 20x10 B with 245/35/20 - F 275/30/20 - B. Also I found out my offset will be 20 mm F and 25 mm B. So my questions are:

1. Will it affect my gas mileage and speed too much going from 18's to 20's?
2. How is the ride with 20s in general?
3. I know I know....i will need to drop it. But i don't want it to effect the ride at all. Will switching my springs to 350z springs do the trick?
4. Should I just do 19s?

Whats gonna affect your ride quality is the lower profile tire, gonna ride like a lumber wagon basically. But what can you expect with an inch and a half of rubber between your wheel and the ground.

oops changed that. 20x9 F 20x10 in the back. Damn its going to ride that like that? how much do you exchange your tire? What kind of drop do you recommend that is the safest most stock way?

Its going to affect your speedometer if you don't match your size to oem.

Dono bout gas mileage, i doubt it will change that much.

I have 19'' pentas and i absolutely love them. But i think 20'' will look better. they have bigger lip.

really? I was going to get the 19" but since I didn't want to get it dropped I decided to get 20s so that I can get that 20 and 25 mm offset. And what do you mean match my size to OEM. I don't know anything about this stuff.

Your overall tire height needs to stay the same as your stock tires. You go a wheel size bigger your need to get smaller sidewall height keeping your ovarall height the same. I think its right around 26" diameter

The Pentas are nice looking rims but, there's a major downside to this choice. Axis wheels weight a ton, this will shorten the distance your G stops and cause bearing wear. Then there's the 20" rims with the smaller sidewall, if you don't enjoy driving your G that's a great choice. If you do, find a lighter rim in 19" so you can run at least a 35 series tire!

OP, you basically have to sacrifice a little comfort/performance for looks, if you go from 18s to 20s. You will notice a little decrease in acceleration, due to the extra weight and bigger radius. And of course, a heavier car = less gas mileage.

Rolling on 20s and with a drop, there's no way you're going to get the same ride as with your 18s. You will feel the road a lot more.

If you're looking for a soft and comfy ride, 20s are not for you. Even if you go with 19s, you'll still feel a difference from your 18s. I suggest going for a ride in a buddies car that has 20s so you can feel it for yourself. I almost went with 19s with my vs-xx, but then changed my mind and ordered 20s. I'm glad I did, our cars look best with 20s IMO. And I just make up for the performance loss with more performance parts :D.

axis do weigh a lot. I got 19''. 235/35/19 and 275/35/19 in the rear and you can deff feel it.....but hey it looks great. and there cheap..

we all can't afford name brand stuff but we all like the looks of it so you gota do what you gota do :) . hahah

haha i feel you bro! can you pm me pics of your car btw? did you lower it? and what are the size tires that will fit the specs of our oem tires? i have the 18" chrome OEMS on mine. I was thinking about dropping it on Tein 350Z H-techs too. I heard that will put everything very close to specs and I will hardly notice any diff . except for handling. Is that true at all? I see yall are saying diff. I guess what my overall question is....is it worthed? I don't want an awful ride but got damn G's look sick with 20 and fat *** lips on it. and can anyone tell me the tire size i should have?

And yall is the ride really that rough? I'm all for feeling the road more but Gary u make me wanna just away stock? And the heavy rims I would feel more on turns and rolling right??? I heard u have better handling after lowering. Or should I just save????:confused2:

It's really all just personal preference. Some people like a stiff ride, others soft. So it's up to you. Like I said, take a ride in someone elses G that has 20s.

You'll feel the heavier wheels on acceleration. Technically, you should have better handling since you'll have wider wheels and tires than stock.

And yes, the lower center of gravity will help with the handling. But it also depends on the spring rates.

If you're looking for increased handling, get sway bars (motordyne, stillen, hotchkis). One of the best mods for our cars, and isn't that expensive.

ah ok! so last night i was cruising around in Austin, TX and decided to finally push my car. Enjoyed the acceleration and the fact you get the head popping back on acceleration. I climbed up on 140mph pretty fast. My friend and I were talking about the axis pentas and he was saying, "you know your car isn't going to accelerate like this at all with 20's" He suggested a custom exhaust system and a cold air intake if i want that acceleration back after 20s? What are your thoughts? Will i still get that head snap with or without it? Listen I want two things, acceleration and looks. Tomorrow I'm either buying or saving my money. All of you guys have nice wheels and a lot of yall have 20s. Is their THAT big of a difference? my oems weight 25lb and the axis 20s weight 30lb btw.

Im running 20in wheels on my ride with 255/30's up front with 285/30's in the rear and lowered with eibach pro kit and the ride is great you will hear and feel more of the road but not too bad. I lost alittle accelleration going to 20's but i did add a 5/16 motordyne plenum spacer, stillen z tube,and topspeed pro 1 exhaust and picked up my lost acceleration real quick i absolutly love my G coupe now. heres a pic for you.http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/t...r/IMG_0877.jpg

man that looks nice as hell! how much do your rims weigh? What kind are they? I plan on adding the same performance part....not big on adding a spacer tho :(. But man car looks good. Def make me feel better about the whole process
