powdercoating vs painting

do you guys think its better to powdercoat or paint rims?? which one should hold up better against rock chips and quality? also which one would look better for trying paint the rims all matte black, or flat black? THANKS, pics would also be awesome.

my gloss black powdercoat is supposed to be treated like a paint i dunno both of them can get scratched easily and when you take off the lugs you have to be careful i like the powdercoating though cause they spray off the gunk it only cost me $250 for all four

^^ any pics??

I would go with paint, its MUCH easier and cheaper to repair and a qaulity paint job will hold up just as well as powdercoating.

Either way make sure the company does a good chemical strip of the wheels before coating or painting. It's worth the extra few bucks.

can u still get more of a flat black instead of glossy black in powdercoating compared to paint?

Most places have so many colors. It's hard to tell from a chart but check these out.

I had mine powdercoated semi gloss black and ran them through a canadian winter and they still look like a million bucks. I recommend

Powder coated wheels will last for many years to come. They resist better to snow, ice and chemicals on the road then painted ones ever do. If you plan on keeping the wheels for awhile, spend the money, do it right and get them powder coated. If not, just paint them, no reason to invest in some wheels you will not keep.

This is really a "No Brainer" paint will be cheaper/quicker but it won't last! Powdercoating will outlast how long you own the car and quite possible the next owner too. P/C is the way to go IF you want it done right!
