Falken FK-452's or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
So it's time to get new tires. Typical driving is in the SF Bay area (a little rain, mostly sun) all the way up to the Sierra Nevadas (it's October and we get snow).
Size: 245/40R19 in the front and 255/40R19 in the rear.
I *tried* the Falken's in snow and even with cable chains - horrible. Couldn't get up a <10 degree driveway and this was with plenty of tread. These are, without a doubt, summer tires. The wear bars on the Falkens start to appear around 30,000. Not bad for the amount you pay. (30000/$800 = 37.5 miles/$)
However, I'm looking at all season tires and the Michelin all seasons are supposed to last 45,000. (45000/$1100 = 40 miles/$)
The difference can be offset via various costs (e.g. shipping, installation, etc.). So they're pretty close.
Can't rotate them (8" in the F and 8.5" in the rear and their unidirectional IIRC) so that doesn't help.
Anyhow, looking for opinions one way or another. It's raining outside so not much a person can do except cruise the internet on a lazy Sunday.

Okay, pulled the trigger on the Michelins. They got here and are some nice looking tires - having siping to help with snowy conditions. Will get them mounted this week and see what happens.
Always interesting to see if the guys can remember that the front and rears are different sizes. 255's do not fit on the front 8" rims and it's obvious that 245s versus 255s go on the front.
