Considering buying 225/55/17's for winter set up. Is this ok clearance wise?
Thanks, g4ian 371520-G35 MINI.jpg |

yes I run these for my summer tires. 225/55/17 goodyear GS-D3's (6ply). they fit fine all the way around. if you are using your good rims I honestly would look for some 16" steelies and 205/60/16 tires. I think snows in that size plus steel wheels run about 380 bucks.
or you can get some cheap aluminum mags. In most places teh salt and stuff will eat your wheel's finish. Better Life thru Chemistry Black on Black 03.5 Sedan 6MT - Goodyear F1 GS-D3's 225/55/17, Custom Intake Tube, '03 "Z" Suspension, Magnaflow resonator, 6 Wire 4 Guage Grounding Kit |

Works just fine. You can go 235/50R17, too. However, for winter tires, narrower is better.

I am trying to figure out the wheel widths for the 17s. The rears use 235s, and fronts use 225s, so they have to be a bit wider in the rear?

on the SEDAN, all four are 17x7 and you can run 235's on a 7 inch rim
as far as the coupe? I dunno Better Life thru Chemistry Black on Black 03.5 Sedan 6MT - Goodyear F1 GS-D3's 225/55/17, Custom Intake Tube, '03 "Z" Suspension, Magnaflow resonator, 6 Wire 4 Guage Grounding Kit |
