A couple of issues with new Hankook Ventus V12's...
 

Hi there.

I have OEM 19's, and I had new Hankook Ventus V12's put on my rears a few weeks ago (275/35R19, I believe) to replace my Nitto 555's. The Hankooks were a bit cheaper and had recently received some positive reviews, so I decided to go that direction. Since that time, I have encountered a couple of issues:

1. My driving habits have not changed, and since then, it seems my traction control engages A LOT more on turns. I have checked my tire pressure, and that seems OK.
2. On both wheels (left and right rears), it seems like the sidewalls may have "collapsed" or creased causing some scratches on the wheels. Has anyone heard of such an issue??

Any thoughts here would be appreciated!

Probably because you rammed a 275 on a 8.5" wheel. That wheel is made for the 245 it came with.

I had 2 sets of Nittos with no issues that were the exact same size.

If your front tires are either:

A) too worn

or

B) different brand

than it can possibly make your VDC go nuts.

are u running 2 different types of tires.. ? mine did that with bridgestones in the rear and toyos in the front.. i took it to infiniti 4 yrs ago and when i told the service advisor what was happening, he called it.. i know that alot of people run different brands of tires but my particular car doesn't like it.. it would throw the vdc all day everyday...it lasted for about 100miles then it slowly started to go away.. i ended up running toyos all around and have been running it that way since...

Thanks, guys. Yes, that may be it. I still have Nittos on the front.

Nittos have an extremely stiff sidewall, hankooks do not.

So when you exert a tonne of strain on a soft sidewall it will collapse (and eventually blow out) on a stiff sidewall the rigidity remains even though that size shouldn't be mounted on that width.

The 275 out back has only hindered your handling....

+1 on the mixed tires. I used to have different set of front and rear tires and I would slip going 30mph on a not very sharp highway on ramp. I actually switched to the v12's last week and the slipping went away.

My bet is on mixed brands. Also, the new tires will have mold release on them for a few hundred miles, and colder temps this time of year, will make them a bit slippery to start also. Should tighten up shortly.
