I'm in a wheel dilemma and I need your help!
I currently have a set of work VSXX 19x9.5 and 19x10.5. Since I track my car I want to get another set of wheels in the same size but that weigh much less. The works are about 30lbs each, but the problem Im having is that any wheel with a lip seems to be very very heavy.
So I ask you, is there a nice looking "real" wheel out there(volk, ssr etc..) with a LIP that weigh in the 21lb range? I know te's and ce's are lightweight but I cant seem to find a wheel with a lip that is lightweight. |
Light 19" wheels = No lip.
18" wheels will get you closer to your desired weight. |
that's what im slowly learning..

If you can find a wheel with forged centers you could probably bring the weight down but in general 18s probably would be closer to what you're interested in.

Just fyi Volk te37 superlaps and tokyo time attacks have lips and are very light. 20lbs for 19x9.5 and 21 for 19x10.5. I wish more companies would make nice wheels with a low weight in mind. I just bought a set of the te37 TT's!

If you plan to track on the second set up, run 18s. You'll thank me later when you're through two track days and $600 in 18" tires.
Keep in mind, 3 piece wheels have about 4lbs of HARDWARE alone holding them together. You want 1 piece forged or flow formed cast wheels. Enekei RPF1s Wedsports SA series and wheels of the like Remember it's a track day. No need to impress anyone with how expensive or gangster your wheels are, run a good time and impress them that way. |

Just use OE 18" wheels with some sticky tires. I'm sure you can find a set on our MARKETPLACE for very little $$ and they don't weigh much....Gary
