Konig on top, Gram Light on the bottom. Which finish and wheel looks better?

You won't have to worry about fading with the Konig wheel... they are already faded and look horrible.

There are different kinds of "neochrome". Each lip of the Gram Light is processed separately to insure a high quality, high color, dynamic finish. Konig's are placed 20 - 50 in a machine so the coating is dull without as much color, not as long lasting or as expensive (this is why they are only $200 per wheel as opposed to Gram Light's $1500 per wheel - although I'm sure brand name also plays into that).

Another example...

$25 lug nuts vs $300 lug nuts...

See how the coverage differs? The colors?

In this case you pay for what you get. If you are trying to highlight the neochrome finish, why go for the cheap looking finish??

do those R40 lugs rust on the inside?

AmateuRN 11-08-2013 11:08 AM

Mine haven't? I think they are aluminum.

ACE420 11-08-2013 11:29 AM

@amateuRN- very good points and in details too! Well that cleared a lot up for me. Was going to lean towards konigs cuz the price was pretty cheap and haven't ran into a thread about finishes going dull or fading, but after comparing the pics you posted I think I'm goin to wait til taxes come back and buy some nice a** wheels like yours! Those are f-ing incredibly gorgeous!

racercris15 11-08-2013 12:49 PM

have ur lugs seen rain?

AmateuRN 11-08-2013 02:27 PM

Just buy mine now for cheap!

ACE420 11-08-2013 04:53 PM

I WISH!! Lol i want those so damn bad but unfortunately I don't have that kind of money at the moment

There is an electro-plating/anodizing type process called Aurora coating that looks just like neo-chrome. Just looking at the pictures, I don't think it looks as elegant as the wheels up above, but it makes it possible to have the neo-chrome finish on anything.

I've been wanting to visit Wayne at the shop to check this out in person, but I just haven't had the time.

Yea I've ran into aurora site too but it takes a minimum of 8 weeks to get something plates and from what I've read it's pretty expensive at that which sucks
