DPE's are finally in, one last question?
So I'm heading down to DPE tomorrow to pick my new wheels. The shop down stairs from them are going to install them. I want to transfer my tire pressure sensors from my stock 18's to the new set of DPE's. When I asked the tech on the phone about doing the work he seem unsure about the G35's sensors. He asked me if there was a little box like on Corvette's. I told him I didn't think so and that I thought it was just a matter of swapping out the valve stem. What's the deal? Can I transfer them on to my new wheels?
Thanks, ~Chris |

Thanks, ~Chris I've been told on 2 separate occasions by Creative Autoworks that our sensors would work w/o any problems. Also, check out http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=44 and scroll about halfway down for a pic of the tire sensors -- it says GM and Infiniti use the same sensors. Can you keep me posted on how it goes...keeping the tire pressure sensors was a major deciding factor in me going with DPE.... Good luck, and congrats on the rims! Thomas |
Yeah, actually after seeing the picture I see what he means about "box". Hopefully it goes smoothly. I'll post how it turns out.

Congrats! Can't wait to see pics! :)

Question though....Do you have to reset anything in the car's computer when you install the sensors in different wheels? I thought i read it in another post somewhere here. TIA for the advice!

Are DPEs wheels the only ones that work with the factory sensors?

BTW...which DPE model did you get? |
I dont think you can use them. If the rims have the stem on the inside of the wheel then its going to be a no go.

Works! Yup the stems are on the inside and they fit and seem to work fine. I haven't driven on them much yet but they seem fine. I'm running 35 series on mine but the tech thought that a 30 series would work too. (For those of you goin' with the 20's.)
Damn these things are sick, I won't make any claims of having the biggest lip but they're a healthy 4 -4 1/2 inches. I love the way they look on the car. I'll post pics soon, I need to give her a bath and a Zaino rub down first. BTW, they're 19" DPE R06 S veriant black faces polished lip w/ rivits and cf center caps. Running those new Toyo Proxes T1R with the stiff side walls. :D |
