Let's drop it.

Let’s talk dropping some…

04 coupe. Got some wheels order from James with Creativeautoworks.com, and while I am waiting on those I want to get the G dropped some. I don’t want it dropped any more than an 1”. I like the ride the way it is now, and I don’t want something that will jar your teeth out. However, I wouldn’t mind improvements where they can be made.

With that being said….the most I would want to spend would be around $1K. Since I want a mild drop, I am hoping I won’t have to purchase camber kits.

I either want to go with springs and shocks….or coilovers. As far as springs and shocks I was thinking about D-Spec/H-tech (350z) combo. Looks like those run around $650. So, then I get thinking…if I am going to spend that much maybe I should just go with coilovers, and for those I was thinking about the Tein Basics. However, after some reading and searching here it sounds like those provide a pretty hash ride.

So…any suggestions? Am I on track with just getting the D-spec/H-tech combo? Are there other shocks or springs I should be considering?

Thanks!

if available: koni yellows/htech, or tein basic's. i'd suggest a camber kit if you decide to lower the basics more than the recommended Tein setting.

Seems that you want a specific / controlled drop, and if that is the case, then going with a coilover is your best bet. I went with the HKS Hipermax LS coilover for my sedan, and only dropped 1" F / 0.75" rear [I was expecting the springs to settle but they really have not done much]. The point being is that the installer was able to get my alignment back to within factory specs. w/o having me resort to getting a camber kit.

well...after some reading here, I am thinking about doing the H-techs for the Z and Koni shocks. I was considering the tech-d shocks but from the reviews here it seems everyone likes the koni's better.

yeh, keep reading....

same questions asked over and over again....

hmmm...not really. not too many reviews on the koni vs the tech-d's, and not much information on the H-tech's for the Z and koni shocks together.
