245's on OEM Sedan 18's?
 

I love my stock wheels- I mean LOVE. The only thing I want to change is the tires.

I would like to get slightly wider rubber and wanted to know if my 7.5" width wheels would accomodate a 245 width tire. The tire I am looking at is the BFG KDW 2 in 245/45/18 fitment.

Would I see an increase in traction/handling, or would I see any adverse effects by going with this combo?

7.5 rim would accomodate 245/45/18 according to BF specs. But what is stock size? 235/45/18? In this case you are gaining 2" of tread width. You will get better cornering, but MAY get more noise and be more prone to aquaplanning with wider tire, depending on design. Go to tirerack.com and read reviews about this tire, it seems to get excellent ratings.

I thought the "Sport" sup. wheels were 8" width? :confused: Mine are.

No they are not- take a look at the specifications from Infiniti's website:

Sorry, I am bad-looked at wrong spec. Nevertheless, 235/45 is about 7.5-7.6, 245/45 is 8.5-9, so it is still good 1-1.5 gain

Still, do not confuse "section width"(235 vs 245) with "tread width". Section width is width at widest point. 245/45 is more "square" than 235/45 and thus tread width is closer to section width. Or, to rephrase it, 245/45 has widest point closer to contact patch.
There's no rule of thumb, different manufacturers would have different specs.

Not wanting to hijack but......obender66 I see in your sig you have the MB Quarts in your car - is the head unit still stock? If so how are the results?

245's will fit on the rim though to answer the original question.

What ARE you talking about? Are you dividing them? If so, it's 5.22 and 5.44. One centimeter is all that is gained. We're not confusing anything. :confused:

Results are excellent.I have Bose 7 speaker system with amp, not just stock unit. I used a lot of B-Quiet on door panels and took a lot of time ensuring that speakers hooked up to be in phase.
