Idiot Tarnished my New Dpe's!
I would have never believed in a Million years that someone could be such an Idiot.
I just got my wheels put on on Tuesday, and since my car was dirty I decided to get it detailed. I called a guy who has detailed my car on a number of occasions. As he started to spray some solution on my tires, I yelled out STOP!!! Don't do that! His response was "Oh it's just Tire cleaner" I said "I don't care". I then told him that 3 years ago a detailer tarnished my wheels with chemicals and that I wanted him to only use soap and water. I turned around and walked back into my office. 30 minutes later: What the F*CK!!! I am looking at the same sh*t from 3 years ago. White dried up soap suds looking tarnish on my lip. All 4 wheels!!! I cannot believe how you can tell someone not to do something, then tell them why you don't want them to do it, and they still go ahead anyway! Now I know I did alot of cursing in my post, but somehow knowing I was 30 minutes away from attending Bible study kept me level headed. I mean 6 months from the time that I decided I wanted my DPE's until they arrived and this guy manages to do this in 10 minutes! Now Here is the GREAT NEWS! James from Creative had already sent the Mothers Mag Polish 1 month earlier. So I gave that a go and it worked! I still have to finish a few small spots but it was pretty easy to remove! Should I tax his A$$ for my labor? And How Much? |
sh!t happens....you should just wash your car yourself next time. It all come off, so you're in good shape. Cheer up.
Are the DPE's clear coated. I am curious to know if you can use the Mag polish on clearcoated and chrome wheels?
Don't use me as the final word but I did recall James saying that they did not have a clearcoat on the lip!
Why don't you post his full name and phone number here so we don't make another
mistake of using him as our detailer? |
If they are anything like iforged, then the lips arent clearcoated unless requested
If they are not clear coated, better buy the big tub of mother mag polish as you will be doing it all the time to keep them shiny. Aluminum will oxidize with just exposure to air
i am pretty sure that DPE's do not come clearcoated. it should be fine to use mag/aluminum polish.
That's the beauty of a polishied non-clear coated lip. You can make it look brand new anytime although too much time consuming...
Good deals that it was able to come off... but yeah... I never let anyone else wash any of my rides... I don't care if they were ranked #1 detailer...

i hate clear coats on polish lips. looks ugly.
you can get any metal polish to polish them up. You can even polish up your A/C lines to a mirror finish using that stuff |
same **** happened to me today, except this happened to me at the infiniti dealer. After I repeatedly told him not to wash my rims, the guy who washes the car goes right ahead and does. So when I pick up the car I see that there are streaks of white all over my rims. But they managed to get it off, or most of it. What I wanna know is what they used because now my wheels are shiney as hell, probably looks even better then before. I have some volks by the way.
