TINMAN 09-15-2005 11:44 AM

c'mon now.the reason i ask this is mr VRT guy saying he's running this set up on his SUPERCAR.so i just want to see what you guy think about this and will link him this thread.any one?

Come on Steve. This is surely a joke, You should be running that tire on a 11" wide rim (10.5" minimum). Talk about tapered sidewalls. LOL :p

sen_jen 09-15-2005 12:09 PM

rofl. might as well put swampers.

TINMAN 09-15-2005 01:43 PM

i'm NOT kidding you.THIS IS NOT a joke.and that's why i want you guys to say something here :D

i think 275 is the best looking for 9.5

SoCalTed 09-15-2005 01:54 PM

OK.. I called my tire guy and he doesn't think so.. That's a truck tire. I did a search on tire rack & Big O and they do not carry such a beast (in 18's). I think it's doubtful, but you never know.

Doing a calc on the correct tire diameter for this size, you are looking at tire with an overall diameter of about 37.84 inches.

TINMAN 09-15-2005 02:14 PM

yes, there's such tires.and yes that's the tire on his car but he keep saying his rim is 9.5" which it BS to me.

315mm tire on a 9.5" wheel? He is either lying about the wheelsize, or he is a moron -you take your pick.

In regards to making larger than 315mm tires for 17" or 18" wheels, there are a handful out there.

Here are the specs for a 1997 Dodge Viper:

Front 17.0" x 10.00" silver alloy wheels
Rear 17.0" x 13.0" silver alloy wheels
P275/40ZR/17 front tires
335/35ZR/17 rear tires

I have seen people put a 275 on a 8" stock wheel, so I suppose it could physically be done. Not an ideal set-up though and there will be significant sidewall bulge.

You took a wrong turn somewhere. A 315/30/18 is actually smaller diameter than a stock 245/45/18. A 315/35/18 is an exact match to the stock diameter of 26.7 inches.

Steve,
You can certainly mount 315mm tires on a 9.5" wide wheel, but it is definitely out of spec. (read not safe).

now on to business, how do you like thr bf's?
Noise, traction, wet traction? What size do you have on your rear's?
ps: i've had 275's on my stock 17x8in for almost a year. no problems.
as for the 315's... 10in+ maybe, 10.5+
