Can i run Bridgestone's in the front and yoko's in the rear?
so yea long story short i got new tires for my front about 2 months ago. Went with the bridgestone potenza's (stock tires)but didnt need rears at the time. Now i need rears. So can i go with another company or brand of tire in the rear? Cause the guy at the shop told me i would save 80 bucks a tire if i went with yoko's. But i remember the dealer and another tire shop telling me i would have to go with the exact same brand and tire as the fronts because of my traction control, and if i didn't my car would be flying everywhere.
They told me that because of the traction control infiniti only takes bridgestone and michellin tire brands. But can i possibly go with a cheaper michellin/bridgestone tire? Or are these guys just trying to make a buck and trying to get me to buy expensive tires?thanks |
It's true that you should get the same brand of tires for all 4 wheels, but i dont know about your car flying everywhere if you didnt. that seems a little exaggerated. Also, you CAN go with any brand you wish to get.

Buy all 4 and sell your old tires.

I was on my way to change tires off my KZ-A with RT615 (assymitrical) all around. I was running on the Infiniti 18" with the FK451 (directional) up front and the KZ-A with Dunlop DOT Race tires on back. I had the KZ-A front rims at my Dad's shop. When I came to my Dad's shop, taking the rims off the car and came to the passenger rear rim where I saw a huge dent on the lip in behind the wheel. I figured I'd just bang it out a little bit..but it sheared and cracked. I ended up mounting the RT615 up front and ordered another rim off tirerack to replace the sh*tty one. In the meanwhile I was running the oem rims with the FK451 in the back with no problems with stability. thoug I found myself (purposely) sliding the back end a lot :D
As with g35doc, buy all 4 tires that you like and would stay true to, so that if the rears wear out faster than the front or vice versa, you wont come to a dilemna about what tires and size to choose. Sell your old tires to some drifter looking to burn up tires. |
