Subwoofer Signal Issue?

Subwoofer Signal Issue?
Hi,
I have a really strange issues where by sub doesn't work.
I have the stock Bose amp with Alpine sub and amp added to it. The signal for the sub amp comes from MTX re-Q5. Everything has been working fine until it simply stopped, the weird issue is that it will work randomly. Also, it works if it turn up the volume almost all the way up (28+). So it's almost like there is not enough bass signal coming through.
These are the things I tried:
- Tested the sub and amp separately they both work
- Tried using line out converter instead of the MTX re-Q5. I tried hooking it up before and after Bose amp, and even then with the line out converter is still would not work unless I had the volume really high up
Any ideas?

Is the bose sub still connected? Is it similarly affected?

Yes, the bose rear subs are still connected and they seem to be working ok.

- I hooked up my sub to his amp and it worked with no issues
- I hooked up his headunit to my amp and my sub worked this way too
- I used two different line out converters instead of the re-Q5 and still had the same issue
The strangest thing is that sometimes it works. It won't work for months and then all of the sudden it will for a day, without me doing any changes.
