G35 Sedan 2004 rotor size for 6MT
Hello,
I have a 2004 G35 6MT sedan (non brembo) and was wondering what the rotor size is considering there are many different sizes listed when you go to purchase them. Tried searching with different sizes altogether for the EBCs i'm looking at.
According to this site http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/inf...apacities.html they are 11.7 inches in the front.
Partsgeek though has the EBC listed at 11.6, 12.7, and 12.8 inches up front. While i'm pretty sure i dont need the 12.7 or 12.8, the 11.6 is off by .1 inches. (part number 17913-03011337)
Even Oreilly's lists 11.6 inches for the EBC, and 11.64 for their brakebest brand.
Also besides the G37S brake conversion for the G35s, i heard there is a way to convert the 2004 rotors and calipers to the larger?? 2005 models? Any links to that info?
Thanks

You have the 11.7" front rotors.
The actual dimension is slightly under 11.7 IIRC, so the 11.6-11.7 rotors are the right size.
You can swap to the larger 2005+ 2-piston brakes if you want.
You will need:
Front calipers
front rotors
pads.
Out back the 2005+ rotors are larger as well. 12.1" vs 11.5". You would need
rotors
caliper pad brackets.
The actual caliper that compresses the pads is the same, but the bracket that mounts it to the knuckle is bigger to space it out farther for the larger rotor. It might not be possible to find these separate so you may need to buy 2005+ rear calipers as well and just swap them out. You'll need to trim the dust sheild a bit for the rear rotors as well.
I do not know if any of the brake lines need to be swapped.
Performance is about the same. The 03-04 system used aggressive pads from the factory that dusted. The larger diameter rotors in 2005 use a less aggressive pad but the larger diameter makes performance pretty equal. Of course, when using aftermarket rotors and pads, anything is possible. But larger brakes do offer more potential and help fill in wheels better.
