Clutch Needs Replacing, Any Recommendations?
My clutch is up for replacement, as the guys at the Nissan dealership suggested. I am wondering what a good reliable clutch kit would be? I have no experience with replacing clutches, though I've worked on every other component of hydraulic clutches. Would you recommend I do it myself? I am always up for DIY when it comes to cars. Also, I do race very occasionally. I have a custom exhaust, coilovers and a Injen CAI. It is a 2005 with 107k miles, daily driven in city conditions, rarely highway. What clutch would best fit my car?

This is the best deal going. Kyle took care of me and I now have a clutch that will last the life of the car. The JWT flywheel has replaceable friction plate inserts, no more throwing it away or having to resurface the fly wheel. Flywheel, Pressure plate, clutch kit. SS hoses, bearings, everything you need.

At the time I had it done, this was less than $800 and I got a mechanic to install it for $400, that's about a thousand less than the dealer wanted. It's also good for about 475-500 HP.

Is it a good quality clutch as well, not just cheap? And damn, the Nissan dealership said it'll run me 2400 for a new clutch haha. I actually jut replaced every component to my hydraulic clutch system. Both cylinders, all lines, even the reservoir. So some of that stuff isn't necessary. I just want a high quality reliable clutch that could stand maybe 450-500 hp.

I just went through the same experience. Dealer quoted me $2,500. I found an independent shop (through this board) that charged me $1,200. It's a JWT, and it seems fine to me. It took me a few weeks to get used to the new clutch but now I drive it fine. If there's a chatter, I don't notice it. I have an 07 6MT and it's my daily driver.

If you're planning on the engine you have stay with a OE clutch, if your intention is to build this motor go with an aftermarket clutch. You do need to find an independent shop rather than the dealership. I put 118K miles on my last tt Z putting out 370 whp using the OE clutch, failure was caused by a rear main seal that destroyed the clutch.
