LOL @ "him"

An Invidia axle-back or cat-back isn't an option when all I want to do is replace the tips. The rear valence on your car is not the same as the 2011.

The tips on my exhaust are removable and he can probably purchase them from Invidia. The rear valence is nearly the same on both cars, the newer ones are just longer.

I didn't realize Invidia's tips were clamp-ons, and I've been unable to locate stand-alone Invidia tips. Do you have a link for that?

No... the (rear) bumper your model is much better, IMO. The design since 2010 is odd, and stretched to the corners. And the indent for the tips is very broad.

Thanks. It's probably outside your budget for the mod, but have you considered a rear bumper swap?

I'm sure you could contact them directly for them. I haven't seen them on sale individually so...

The tip is actually pretty big, but i'm sure the diffuser is making it look like that as well.

You're right, that's hard to justify. However, if I ever got rear-ended so that the bumper needed replacement, I wouldn't hesitate to use the 07-09 bumper.

Is that your car? Love the look from behind. Simply gorgeous. Did you paint the valence, or use an overlay? I'd like to explore the overlay, but not in black on my Moonlight White... I just want a darker shade.

With all the conversions going on these days, you might be able to offload your current bumper and get the early 2nd gen bumper for a little more, if any. Just a thought.

Yes sir, thank you. It's my car, although i've "blue-batted" the taillights since (couple more rear photos here). The tips don't really look all that big in person, IMHO. I'm not a big fan of "bling" and is one reason i painted the mufflers as well. I think the tips on the Invidia's is just the right size for the sedan. Although, you're right, the design of the rear bumpers have to do with the overall effect.

Excellent photography, soundmike. You've got a good eye.

Stay subscribed, and when the day comes in the next few months that I do something about the tips, you'll see the results. I'm leaning towards 4" round, single-wall, 45* angle-cut Magnaflows, cut to 7.5" length and welded to the curved face of the mufflers.

And if that turns out hideous, then I'll just keep at it.

I'm pretty sure if you can get past the loss of the rear sensors, you'd be able to trade even without much hassle to the g35 rear end.

...or the 2009 G37 rear bumper, which is the same as the 07 and 08 G35.

And I imagine the back-up sensors can be easily mounted in a bumper without them. Cut the holes, mount the sensors, and cap them. Of course, I base that assumption on nothing whatsoever.

Pretty much. I've seen installation videos for aftermarket back-up sensors and it seems that's all there really is to it other than routing wires (which you already have anyway.)

I took a bunch of pictures of the G today, and here's one on-topic to this conversation.

As stated earlier, the OEM tip is 3.5" x 4.5" oval, rolled, with a 30* slash cut and an obvious seam. My passenger side is also not lined up properly, it seems (no pun).

Clearly, the cut-out is at a curvature to better support the oval tip than a round one, but I'm going round anyway. Only thing I can't decide is 3.5" or 4.0". Anyone have any opinion about the dimensions?
