Window trim deteriorating.....

Talk to one of the dealership parts departments that sponsor here ( Phil, Rick, et al.). They will be able to hook you up with the right parts. It shouldn't be too hard to do, just a bit tedious most likely. Good luck.

Thanks!
I didn't see much in the way of a part or replacement when I was searching but I did find it here

It's called the Belt molding if anyone is interested.
Now I will see how hard it is to replace.

If you want cheaper, you'l probably just have to go with a salvage piece in better condition than your own. If you can't find a part number online (it is do-able), then as mentioned before, talk to one of the dealership parts departments that sponsor here ( Phil, Rick, et al.).

bumping this thread up once again...
I've searched the forums and this is the only thread I can find with people having this issue. I took my car to Swell Infiniti Houston this Friday to get an oil changed and they said it'll be $850+ for me to get all four replaced. I have a lot of wind noise coming from those trim pieces and would like to figure out away to fix this issue. Anyone have any recommendations? maybe a DIYs?

Yes please someone has to know of a DIY I've got the same issue and I'm positive it has nothing to do with sun, but more than likely some chemical they use in drive through car washes. I always do my own washing and when wife has taken it through a car wash it started just falling apart, apparently they use cyanide at shell car wash lol

Maybe this thread is truly dead this time, but it's one of the few that actually addresses this issue. I've got the same problem on my 08 sedan. Just doesn't seem right that a small piece of rubber costs $87 (x4 windows).
There are some generics available. I'll probably go with one of these after talking with my mechanic:

I found out I had this issue the hard way.
Came out to my car one hot day here in Cali and had a small leaf stuck in my window right there on that strip and when I pulled it out it ripped a decent amount of that strip off.
Put my finger in there and it was so tacky that it stuck to my hand.
I saw this thread, and read some people saying it might have to do with the chemicals used when washing ones car.
What I have noticed is, the two times I left the touchless car wash was both the times that this stuff became degraded and possibly allowed the sun to heat it up enough to make it tacky.
This is clearly a defect on Nissan's part.
When I got back from the car wash the strip was like an off gray and splotchy black.
It looked bad and I would assume once it heated up it would become tacky again.
So what I did was take a little bit of liquid wrench silicone spray, put it on a paper towel and ran it across all of the spots on the weather strip. It seemed to instantly absorb into it and turned the strip a slightly glossy black and even after 20 minutes it remained like that.
I haven't noticed it become tacky again since I did that so maybe a little love from the silicone was all it needed.

I did test out the doors ability to drain water and it seems to work fine. I believe the strip I trimmed off was purely cosmetic.
I guess only time will tell.
