Thanks for the DIY. Couple of questions.

1. What is the torque on the 19mm centre nut?
2. How do you re-centre the steering wheel? Just by eye balling?

The FSM says 25 ft.lbs. for the torque setting, and yes, you just eyeball the wheel for straight. However, you need to make sure the front wheels are pointed straight ahead for that to work. Since the steering shaft is splined, you're only able to put the wheel on like every 10-12 degrees or so around its rotation, so it should be very noticeable if you are off by one tooth in either direction. Just make sure your wheels are straight first!!

I'm looking to do this in the near future, but I can not find a reasonably priced bezel replacement. I've seen a couple for $26, but they are the ones without the tech package. The rest of the models (I need the tech package, with bluetooth button holes) cost $89. Not sure why the price hike. Anyone have suggestions before I consider the "wrap" approach and re-use my old one with the 3M Tape? I prefer the stock look.

IMPORTANT NOTE - If you do this, make SURE you tape your clockspring down as soon as you remove the steering wheel and do NOT let it rotate from its original position. The clockspring is the electronic peace your steering wheel controls plug into. Mine rotated on me and I didn't know it, as soon I made the 1st turn it snapped the cable in the clockspring $150 and trashed steering wheel angle sensor $700. My dealer sold me the clockspring for cost $75 and I found an angle sensor in a steering wheel column in a salvage yard for $80.... many hours wasted tracking down what all broke... Another lesson learned the hard way, the steering wheel angle sensor is snapped to the back of the clockspring and when the clockspring is purchased new, you have to move the angle sensor over to the new clockspring. In my case... had to buy another angle sensor. My symptoms for the angle sensor were VDC and slip light would not go out and the symptoms of a broke clockspring were no steering wheel controls and airbag light.....on mine 2007 G35 2nd gen, the clockspring is what the airbag plugged into. hope this helps someone. Here is what my clockspring looks like. DO NOT let it rotate with the steering wheel off and you should be fine. http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/...DSC07966s2.jpg

Thanks for the thread and for your additional information/warning whanner.

The dealer wanted to replace my whole steering wheel instead, but just replacing the trim makes a ton more sense and saves a lot of money over their quote. Now I just need to find the right trim for a tan interior with tech package... Anyone happen to have a part number?

Based on this:

http://infiniti.sewellparts.com/oem-...edan-2007.html

it looks like it should be:

48463-JK06A, 48463JK06B, 48463JK07A, or 48463JK07B

AS to which one of those it is, I'd just get your vin number and rely on the parts man to be sure.

FYI, this online website run by Pepe Infiniti out of White Plains NY. ( http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=215819 ) has fantastic pricing. At 30% off list, they're the cheapest I could find on the web; well worth a visit!

Thanks for the part info and links. Have you ordered from the Pepe Infiniti website before with no problems? I haven't purchased from them before...

Yep. In the last two years, I've made three separate purchases (totaling nearly $2k) from them and they were absolutely fine each time. The nice thing for me is that I can call and talk to an actual factory trained parts tech, but who also happens to be the guy handling my online order. If I have any questions at all, they can help; easy as calling up the dealership and asking for the parts department. For me, it's just nice knowing it's not some random guys running a website in their garage with a storage container full of parts. It's an actual dealership, with factory parts that come with a factory warranty! With their discount pricing, free shipping (on a large enough order), and no tax to Cali, I couldn't beat them anywhere else; effectively a 36% discount compared to if I had bought and paid tax locally. Absolutely a total no-brainer.

EDIT: Jeez, it sounds like I'm pitching for them, but I swear I'm not. I just love finding a good deal, and when I find one, I like to share.

Thanks for the info; I greatly appreciate it! I will definitely give them a call since I have a ton of parts to order (paddle shifters, steering wheel trim, rear lip, M shift ****, and midnight black grille).

Anyone found a bezel for <$75? I hear all these stories about people finding them for $25-30 on ebay but I haven't found anything close to that. I may just pull mine off and plastidip it.

Watch out for the shipping!!

(That one is actually in Cali, at Perry Infiniti no less, but it's listed on the Australian Ebay site, hence the shipping cost. Seems like they should be able to ship it locally for a whole lot less.)

Thank you for the source, but there's no cutout for bluetooth controls. I don't have the tech package and yet I have steering wheel controls for bluetooth? This has always mystified me.

EDIT: seller does not seem to have bezel for tech package (apparently what I need even though I don't have it...?)

Yeah, that was just a quick search of one of those part numbers I listed above. I didn't check any of the others. You could always just call Perry Infiniti with your vin and get a part# and price.

I'm in the same boat. Best I could find was $75, and my dealer quoted me $120.

Has infiniti caught on and raised the price for the part?
