Take the grille off first. You'll need to sand it first anyway. And just paint it with Duplicolor Bumper Paint and skip the whole plasti-drip crap.

The plastic piece on top is held on by 2 circular plastic pieces that slide through a hole. I accidentally cracked them (the plastic must be brittle after 8 years) trying to pry it up, but it doesn't really matter as there are literally 10 bolts holding that piece on. The cracks helped me get enough flex to slide the plastic piece off.

I plasti-dipped the grill on my '07. To be honest I think it looks great. I took it off to do it and it was all pretty simple. Forget what others say here - it's you car and you can do whatever you want with it!!!

Yeah, you can do whatever you want! Go ahead and wear red slacks with blue shoes too! Maybe a leather vest and a fedora! Maybe put on some lipstick and a gold bracelet!

Just cuz you "can" do something doesn't mean you should. I don't understand why you guys don't just paint the damn grill..

Plastidipping your car is NOT a project.

There's no right or wrong way. It's simply your way. If you prefer paint, fine. If you prefer dip, fine as well. Seems that people spend more time telling people what to do based on what they like. To the original poster, dip your grill or your car or your wheels or whatever. I'm sure you put the gas in it and pay the insurance on it so do what you makes you happy.
