New Mods - Tanabe Medalion Exhaust & NF210 Springs - With Pics
Hey guys. Just picked up my Tanabe Medalion exhaust from Rick at Riverside today.... Rick also talked me into a set of Tanabe NF210 lowering springs today. These are their comfort line and only drop the car 1" - 1.3", so it's a moderate drop, but not too much.
I plan to install everything this weekend, but in the meantime I took a few pics for everyone to see.

It's funny, San, but Tanabe hasn't posted the actual spring rates on these yet, although they do state on their website that they are only 5% stiffer than stock, so they should be a pretty decent compromise between ride comfort and handling, especially when combined with the Hotchkis sway bars. Rick @ Riverside tells me that the actual spring rates are 7.6 / 7.2, but I'm not sure if these are correct for the NF210's or not.... they seem a little on the heavy side for their "comfort" level springs.

Awesome! Car looks great, but I agree, it's about a 1/2" too low in the back. Let us all know how the spring boosters work out for you... Which one's did you get anyway?

Ok everyone... Just got done installing my Tanabe Medalion exhaust. It's probably the easiest mod I've ever installed. All you have to do is remove two 12mm bolts from the rear clamps and then pop the 2 exahust hanger pins out of the rubber bushings on each side. It literally took me less than 45 minutes to install (and this includes getting the car up on jackstands and taking lots of pics).
First impressions... My tips are centered perfectly, although when I first installed them the left tip sat slightly "lower" than the right tip. I was able to fix this by simply bending the rearward pin on the driver's side muffler just slighly and now both tips look perfect. The exhaust is not loud at all... It's still even a little too mellow for my blood and I was worried about it being too loud. I think once I install my Berk HFC's, then I will have the perfect sound. That said, it does have a nice low rumble at idle and lets a little more of the sweet VQ engine sounds through at high revs... very similar to the G37 coupe, but a little bit deeper. I haven't had the car on the highway yet, so I'm not sure how it is cruising, but I very much doubt it will be overly noisy or drone at all.
I'll post more impressions in a day or two.
Some before and after pics. (**Warning** it's a lot of pics). LOL
